The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has a main quest that finds you meeting with various sages on your path to the final showdown. Just because you’ve met with a sage and saved a region from disaster doesn’t mean you’re done there, however. Here is our guide telling you how to complete The White Bird’s Guidance in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Tears of the Kingdom – how to complete The White Bird’s Guidance

Fairly early in your scripted quest, you meet with the people of Rito Village. They are snowed under by a sudden storm. Once you melt away that disaster, you’ll find the village has changed for the better.

To complete The White Bird’s Guidance side quest, you must find a nearby shrine. The first step is to talk to Laissa in Rito Village. She stands along the scaffolding connecting the various huts. She mentions seeing a white bird. That conversation initiates The White Bird’s Guidance shrine quest.

To see the ‘bird’ for yourself, head to the highest point in Rito Village. Laissa gives you pretty clear directions. You have to climb to the top of the high rock on which the village’s huts are perched. That area is Van Medoh’s perch. Near the top of the climb, I like to step into the base of what is essentially a stone ring. Then I use the Arise ability to rise straight up through the rest of the stone and appear at the top.

Once you reach that highest point, stroll out onto the rocky extension. The shadow the rocky peak casts resembles a bird with a long beak. A Korok hides near the very end of the ledge, under a boulder. As you watch the shadow’s progression, don’t forget to equip the Snowquill armor set. Either that, or use an elixir to improve your Cold Resistance. At such high elevation, the temperature is freezing.

A Long Shadow

Near dawn, the bird-like shadow rests over the entrance to a cave on the northwest shore. Jump and glide over to the hillside to begin your search in earnest.

You need to find the entrance to West Lake Totori Cave. It waits not far below where some enemies have established a camp within a large skull formation. The above map screenshot indicates its exact location.

Check inside the cave to find Wao-OS Shrine at the end of the winding pathway. As you approach the shrine, before you even activate it, the shrine quest completes.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for purchase from the Nintendo Store.
