The primary way to unlock new cosmetics and outfits in Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game is to complete challenges for both the humans and the Klowns, and the first set of challenges for the human side is aptly titled Human Basics.
This set of challenges will walk you through the basics of playing on the human team in Killer Klowns from Outer Space, making you more comfortable with defending yourself from pursuing Klowns, looting containers to find escape items and weapons, and grouping up with your fellow survivors to find exits. Some of these are easier said than done, however, and some of them have frustratingly specific requirements.
All Human Basics Challenges in Killer Klowns from Outer Space
There are eight Human Basics challenges in Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game.
- Complete 5 Escape Interactions
- Kill 3 Klowns
- Consume 5 Energy Drinks
- Kill 5 Lackeys
- Clear 300 Cotton Candy from Objectives
- Find 3 Meeting Points
- Discover 10 other Humans
- Loot 50 Containers
Before we get into the specifics of each challenge, it’s worth pointing out that the Human Basics challenges (and most of the challenges in Killer Klowns from Outer Space) appear to be bugged at the moment. Multiple community members have reported that some challenges aren’t tracking or granting rewards, so it might be a good idea to hold off until the developers release a patch addressing this issue.
With that said, these challenges are easy enough to knock out within a few games. To complete Escape Interactions, just bring the appropriate escape item to an exit and successfully complete the QTE. If you find that an exit is covered with a pink substance, interact with it to clear the Cotton Candy that the Klowns have left for you in order to complete the next challenge.
You should also loot containers along the way to discover escape items and weapons so you can climb your way to 50 to complete the challenge. You’ll likely find Energy Drinks during this process, so don’t forget to drink those to cross a challenge off your list.
Once you find a weapon, you can kill Klowns and Lackeys to complete those challenges. You’ll need a gun or sharp object to pierce a Klown’s nose to kill it, otherwise you’ll just end up stunning it. Lackeys are much more vulnerable and can be killed just by throwing a brick or baseball at them.
The last two challenges involve other players, so they’re the most finicky. Firstly, you need to discover three Meeting Points. These are special locations marked for every human player at the start of each match. They have good loot and provide a place for survivors to group up if they wish to do so. As you discover Meeting Points and explore each map, you’ll likely bump into other people, which will fulfill the criteria for the discover 10 other humans challenge (this one is bugged for most people though).
As you complete each challenge in the Human Basics set, you’ll receive new customization items like shirts, pants, and makeup. You’ll even get two special emotes that you can use when playing as a human that will allow you to communicate more efficiently with other survivors. Completing challenges is a great way to level up, but the Human Basics challenge set doesn’t teach you everything you need to know about surviving as a human. There are still mechanics like the Resurrection Machine that you need to master if you’re going to become a pro survivor.
