How To Build & Use the Stone Oven
The Stone Oven is a useful item in Valheim. Here’s how you can build and use it.
Cooking in Valheim is always a delight, and most of it can be done between the Cauldron and the various cooking spits. However, that’s not always the case. There are a few end-game recipes that require another station, and if you’ve never noticed this structure before, you’ll find yourself struggling to make some of the best foods in the game.
This structure is of course the Stone Oven, your one-stop shop for bread, pie, bakes, and more. If you’ve never built this cooking station before, it can be a little confusing at first, but don’t worry, here’s everything you need to know about building and using the Stone Oven.
How To Build The Stone Oven
The Stone Oven can be a tricky building to craft. Its materials are relatively straightforward, requiring only 15 Iron, 20 Stone, and 4 Surtling Cores, but you’ll also need a nearby Artisan Table. The Artisan table is a special structure that you can only build after defeating Moder. It unlocks the building of tons of structures, one of which is the Stone Oven.
When you go to build the Stone Oven, keep in mind that it will produce smoke. Make sure it either has its own ventilation in place or that it will be able to use your fireplace’s ventilation. You’ll also need to have stone foundations in place to support your oven. Given all of this, Stone Ovens may be best suited for just outside the kitchen proper.
How To Use The Stone Oven
The Stone Oven is used to bake end-game foods like Bread, Lox Meat Pie, Glazed Honey Chicken, and much more. However, it can’t craft any of the items it cooks, so you’ll first have to make the item in the Cauldron, then place it in a nearby oven.
It functions very similarly to the normal cooking spits you might place above the fire, except that it is both the spit and the fire. Place up to four items you want to cook on the top rack and the wood to fuel the oven below. Wait a minute, and the food will be cooked through. However, if you wait too long, the food will turn to Coal.
The Stone Oven will play a sound, and the food inside will change color when they’re done, but if you have to walk away while it’s cooking, keep an eye on the door. When the food is finished, it will emit a line of white steam, and that steam will turn to dark black smoke if the food has burnt.
