If you’re here, you’re likely looking for some tips and tricks to take down the Pensieve Guardian, which is the second major boss fight in the game. You’ll want to have plenty of potions ready for this one, as this boss and the preceding fight can be a bit of a doozy. If you die during the fight against the Guardian, you’ll have to fight its minions all over again. So, it’s best to go into this fight as prepared as possible.
Take Out Smaller Pensieve Soldiers
The first stage of this boss fight will throw you against a lot of Pensieve soldiers. Some will be larger, others smaller, but all of them are deadly. They can be a lot to keep track of during the fight. You’ll often want to use nearby pillars to your advantage. If you get behind a pillar, you can break line of sight and force your enemies to come to you. Just pay attention, because you don’t want to be overwhelmed suddenly.
Build Your Ancient Magic Meter
It might be tempting to use your ancient magic during this stage of the fight. It would make things quicker to take out a few of these enemies in one shot. Well, that’s good for the short-term but not for the long-term. Instead, you’ll want to build combos off of these smaller enemies to build up your ancient magic bar. Once your bar is full, save it for the Pensieve Guardian. As for these minions, whittle away at them with normal spells, Protego, and Stupefy.
Taking Down The Pensive Guardian
This is a big enemy with a lot of health, so this fight is as much about stamina as it is about power. Have your health potions at the ready and be prepared to use them at a moment’s notice. The attacks from this boss hurt and you’ll need to stay on top of your heals if you want to succeed.
Stun It With Ancient Magic
If you were able to save up ancient magic during the previous fight, you should be able to use your ancient magic twice against the Pensieve Guardian. This attack will literally bring the boss to its knees. You can then feel free to pummel it with spells upon spells. These are the times when you’ll do the most damage. Once it gets back up, use your ancient magic again to send it back to the ground. Doing this back-to-back will give you a very strong start to the fight.
Avoid The Stomp
When the Pensieve Guardian is about to stomp, you’ll see a red sigil above your head. This indicates an unblockable attack, meaning you want to get out of the way as quickly as you can. Roll to either side to avoid the attack. Be prepared to stay on the move, as the enemy may choose to stomp several times in a row. In general, it’s good to remain mobile during this fight, as you’ll want to do a lot of running and dodging.
Destroy The Orb
Occasionally, the Pensieve Guardian will form an orb with its hands. During my fight, the orb was always yellow. However, you should be prepared for the orb to be yellow, red, or purple. This means you want to have a variety of spells on your wheel. If you hit the orb with a spell of the same color, it will blow up and stun the Pensieve Guardian. You’ll want to take advantage of this moment to hit it with as many spells as possible. Build up those combos to regain ancient majic. If you don’t have a spell of the corresponding color ready, then you want to try and dodge out of the way just before the orb hits the ground. If you don’t, it will seek you out and hit you.
Watch Out For Small Orbs
After a while, a small orb will appear to the side of the Pensieve Guardian to shoot you with energy. This is the only attack during the fight that can be blocked. If your timing is great, you can use Protego and hit the Pensieve Guardian with a Stupefy. There doesn’t seem to be a way to get rid of this orb once it appears, so it just becomes one more hazard to track during the fight. Just keep an eye out for the golden sigil above your character’s head. When you see it, toss up Protego and you’ll most likely handle these attacks with ease.
