The Dance Of A God And A Valkyrie

It really can’t be stated enough just how difficult this fight can be. It pays to be aggressive. Try to prevent Gna from getting away and putting distance between you. Many of her worst tricks trigger when you’re far apart from one another, though she’s not exactly a breeze up close, either.

Gna’s Spinning Strike

God of War Ragnarok Kratos vs Gna 4

Striking with her wings and moving into a spinning attack, Gna will occasionally use this move. It’s a completely normal attack with no rings, meaning it can easily be blocked by your shield. So, get that shield up for this one, because most of her attacks are unblockable.

Gna’s Charge Grab

God of War Ragnarok Kratos vs Gna 6

This red-ringed attack comes with a vicious charge that will be followed up by Gna throwing Kratos into the air before slamming him back down to the ground. It’s a fast and deadly move that Gna likes to use often.

Gna’s Grab From Above

God of War Ragnarok Kratos vs Gna 14

This is another red-ringed attack where Gna will leap high into the air and slam down on you, putting her foot to your throat. If you aren’t near death, Freya will often come to your rescue. This is a vicious attack and she’ll sometimes try it three times in a row if you keep dodging. Gna can be relentless with this attack.

Gna’s Wing Jab

God of War Ragnarok Kratos vs Gna 5

Sometimes, Gna will mix in a red-ringed wing jab among a bunch of normal wing attacks. This makes it hard to block because it’s so fast that you barely see it coming. Mixing it in with normal attacks that can be blocked is a particularly devious move on her part.

Gna’s Bifrost Beams

God of War Ragnarok Kratos vs Gna 2

This is a red-ringed attack where Gna will raise her hands to the sky and summon down beams of bifrost. You have to be careful to avoid these, as they stay on the ground for a while and can inflict the bifrost status effect.

Gna’s Magic Missiles

God of War Ragnarok Kratos vs Gna 12

Another red-ringed attack that cannot be blocked or interrupted. The purple missiles will shoot from Gna’s wings. One will come from the left and the other from the right. You’ll want to dodge roll twice to get out of the way. You’ll usually want to doge one way and then dodge the opposite way for this attack.

Gna’s Kick

God of War Ragnarok Kratos vs Gna 9

With a red ring and a short jump into the air, Gna will try to kick you. She usually does this when you’re up close and it can be a difficult attack to avoid. She’s very fast, but do your best to dodge out of the way of this one.

Gna’s Shielded Wings

God of War Ragnarok Kratos vs Gna 18

When you’re pressing the attack, Gna will sometimes throw her wings in front of herself forming a large shield. Your attacks will bounce off of her wings. However, this move comes with a blue ring, meaning you can interrupt it by pressing L1 twice and performing a shield slam. This shield slam will throw her wings back and leave her vulnerable to attack for a few seconds.

Gna’s Area-Of-Effect Attack

God of War Ragnarok Kratos vs Gna 10

This attack can be devastating. Gna will call down some electricity that she’s going to throw out in a wide area. This is a blue-ringed attack that can be interrupted. You’ll want to press L1 twice to perform a shield slam. If you don’t manage to interrupt it, and you’re in range, you will be stunned by the electricity. Gna will use this moment of weakness to get in some deadly hits of her own. It’s very important to interrupt this attack if you want to be successful in the fight.

Gna’s Spinning Charge

God of War Ragnarok Kratos vs Gna 13

This is one of Gna’s few yellow-ringed attacks, meaning that when she gets close you can toss up your shield to parry. This will stop her in her tracks and leave her open to counterattack.

Gna’s Ground Slam

God of War Ragnarok Kratos vs Gna 17

On occasion, Gna will slam the ground over and over, sending shockwaves in your direction. Fortunately, this is a yellow-ringed attack, which means it can be parried and Gna can be left vulnerable for a moment.

Make Use Of Freya

God of War Ragnarok Kratos vs Gna 8

You’ll want to use Freya’s special ability right from the start, that way the cooldown begins. You’ll most likely be able to use it twice during this fight. You’ll also want to occasionally pelt Gna with sonic arrows to increase her stun bar. When the stun bar fills up, Gna loses a big chunk of health, so you want to trigger this as much as possible.

Gna’s Soundstone Attack

God of War Ragnarok Kratos vs Gna 11

Sometimes, when she flies into the air, Gna will give off a red ring and gather a bunch of soundstone in her hands. She’s going to throw it at you unless you hit her with Freya’s sonic arrows. If you land a hit, Gna will drop back to the ground and be vulnerable for a few seconds. Make the most of this opening.

Gna’s Sigil Fire Attack

God of War Ragnarok Kratos vs Gna 15

Occasionally, you’ll see a purple ruin and fire appear between Gna’s hands. This attack also has a red ring. Gna is preparing to use a sigil fire attack to burn you. This can be interrupted by shooting one of Freya’s sigil arrows at her. Again, you’ll be given a brief window to move in and attack with fury.

Come Prepared

This basically means that you need to get all of your ducks in a row. Wear your best armor. Make sure your weapons are upgraded. Enhance any skills that can be enhanced. Bring a resurrection stone with you, because sometimes you just need a second shot. Make sure you’re going into the fight with the right resources and the right mindset.

Time Your Spartan Rage

God of War Ragnarok Kratos vs Gna 7

Along with being prepared, it helps to think about when you might use your Spartan Rage. This is assuming that you are using Spartan Rage. Because Spartan Rage grants you some healing, you’ll want to save it for a point in the fight where you’ve taken a bit of damage. However, you also want to use it somewhat quickly. The sooner you empty your rage bar, the sooner you can begin building it back up again. This is a long fight, and you’ll most likely have the ability to use Spartan Rage again near the end of it.
