How many Vitamins to max EVs?

For the longest time, Vitamins were nothing more than flashy items that were far too rare to be practical. However, the new Pokémon games have made Vitamins much more accessible and easy to get, offering an alternative to EV training. Despite this, many people don’t know the specifics of Vitamins and how they work. Here’s our guide on how Vitamins work and how many you need to max EVs in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

How many Vitamins are needed to max EVs in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

Vitamins are consumable items that grant EVs when used on a Pokémon. The term EV describes Effort Values, additional stats that can be gained by defeating other Pokémon. Ordinarily, your Pokémon gain EVs in the highest base stat of the Pokémon defeated. This can be difficult to control without the right setup, so Vitamins offer a more consistent alternative.

Vitamins in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet grant precisely 10 EVs in one corresponding stat. HP Up boosts HP, Protein boosts Attack, Iron boosts Defense, Calcium boosts Special Attack, Zinc boosts Special Defense, and Carbos boosts Speed. These Vitamins can be purchased in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet for $10,000 each from any Chansey Supply Store.

Each Pokémon can have a maximum of 510 EVs with up to 252 EVs in a single stat. For most competitive Pokémon, this results in a Pokémon having two maxed-out stats and a third stat given the remaining six EVs. There are exceptions though, as sometimes splitting EVs more equally can benefit specific Pokémon.

Since Vitamins grant 10 EVs in a stat, and Pokémon can have up to 510 EVs, you will need 51 Vitamins to max Effort Values in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. At $10,000 each, this is an expensive method, but it is much faster than manually training EVs through the use of the held Power items.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet can be purchased on the Nintendo Store.
