Simply playing through the game’s main storyline will take players through three questlines: Victory Road, Starfall Street, and Path of Legends. After this, there’s a final path that leads to the game’s conclusion. Completing all of these will likely take around 25 hours. However, with speed and clever strategic choices, it’s not out of the question to rush through the game in just 20 hours.

If, on the other hand, you’re the type of person who likes to stop and smell the Roserades, playing at a leisurely pace might have you spending as many as 35 or more hours in Paldea. That’s if you choose to partake in things like Tera raids, sightseeing, picnics, and so on.

Of course, some players aren’t content to simply complete the main story. Filling out Paldea’s Pokédex is a complicated task. It requires not only patience but something more elusive: nerd friends. In order to complete the Dex, players will have to either purchase a second Switch for themselves or find a friend to play with.

Not counting the time spent awkwardly navigating social situations, completing the Pokédex might take players anywhere from 40 to 60 additional hours of playtime. This includes time spent dealing with spawn rates, accidentally running into smaller Pokémon, and so forth. Combining this with the standard playtime for the main story, a full completionist run of Scarlet & Violet will likely take at least 75 hours of playtime.
