How Affinity Points work in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Future Redeemed

The tutorial for Affinity Points appears at the very beginning of the Future Redeemed DLC, and has a lot of information to take in, so let’s break down how this incredible system works.

Gaining Affinity Points

Accruing Affinity Points is something that’s done almost passively in Future Redeemed as you explore and play the expansion. You can gain Affinity Points by doing basically anything in the game-world, such as fighting mobs, collecting items, completing quests, and even just running around and finding new locations.

Gaining Affinity Points can be done by completing anything within the Affinity Goals tab of your menu, which means anything that’s listed there can be done to increase your total. This includes map discovery, which not only grants you Affinity Points, but for each new location discovered, grants you bonus EXP as well. You can even gain Affinity Points by just watching Affinity Scenes, which are nice little scenes offering character moments and callbacks to previous Xenoblade games.

Using Affinity Points

Now that you know how to gain Affinity Points in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, let’s talk about using them. To use your Affinity Points, you first need to head to the Characters menu, then to the Affinity Growth menu. From there you can see a bunch of different options for what you can use Affinity Points on. Affinity Points are shared across all characters, so make sure to spend them wisely.

This menu has a lot of information on it, but just make sure to take in what each one does and you should get to grips with it pretty quickly. In this screen you can attain new arts by looking for the red-filled circles. Enhance already existing arts with the red-outlined circles. Learn skills by looking for the blue diamonds and green exclamation marks/shields. You can also do more as you unlock new tiers of the Affinity Growth tree, which you can attain by finding Unlock kits in the world throughout your journey in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Future Redeemed.

Don’t worry about picking the wrong set of Affinity Growths to begin though, as you progress through Future Redeemed you will eventually obtain a way to reset your Affinity Growth tree.

Hopefully with this information in hand, you’ll be able to master Affinity Points and Affinity Growth in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Future Redeemed.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is available for purchase from the Nintendo Store.
