Sony is currently developing a few game-related TV series that include Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War and Gran Turismo.
Horizon Zero Dawn Netflix Series In Development Plus Amazon Series God of War and Gran Turismo
A recent presentation held by Sony to investors has announced a number of Netflix series are currently in the works. While no plot details were shared, the list of titles includes the open-world adventure Horizon Zero Dawn, a God of War TV show in development with Amazon and a pitch currently being worked on for Gran Turismo. The game adaptations were revealed by Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Tony Vinciquerra according to Variety.
Horizon Zero Dawn is just one of Sony’s titles getting a TV series adaptation. Which one will be next?
Currently, there is no release window for any of the projects or when we will see more about these series. But these are not the only game adaptations being worked on. The Last of Series is currently being shot by HBO, as well as a Ghost of Tsushima movie and Twisted metal under NBC’s Peacock. Out of these, The Last of Us is the only one with a vague release window of 2023. Joel has been cast as The Mandalorian actor Pedro Pascal.
The Ghost of Tsushima project will be a feature film directed by John Wick’s Chad Stahelski. The film like the game will feature samurai Jin Sakai, taking place during the Mongol invasion.
It will be interesting who will be cast in the roles of some of these epic game titles. A live-action will be tricky to pull off but could work well with the right cast. While Netflix doesn’t always get it right, The Witcher has been doing well, even giving The Witcher 3 a resurgence in concurrent players when the first season was first streamed.
