Team Cherry is as elusive as ever.
Hollow Knight developer Team Cherry has filed a trademark for “Fearless Fox” in Australia.
Team Cherry filed a class 9 trademark for Fearless Fox back in 2019. Class 9 means it’s in the area of computer game software (via NME).
On January 27, the Australian-based developer requested its trademark be expanded to class 42, which covers a lot of matters relating to software and video games. Following that, Team Cherry again filed a trademark under class 28 and 41 which covers toys, games and so on.
Safe to say that Fearless Fox is intended to be a video game. Other than that, nothing else is known and therefore open to speculation.
This could possibly be Team Cherry’s next project after they ship Hollow Knight: Silksong. The highly-anticipated sequel is planned to be out within twelve months of June 2022, in other words, in the next four months.
This information comes courtesy of the June 2022’s Xbox and Bethesda showcase which stated that every game on display would be released within the next year. The Xbox Twitter account doubled down on this commitment immediately after the show.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is intended to be a day-one Game Pass release when it does arrive, though it will also be coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.
In Silksong, the player assumes the role of Hornet, a needle-wielding insect. While gameplay will largely be similar to Hollow Knight, a couple of new features have already been announced. One of these is the addition of a quest system wherein NPCs will ask Hornet to fulfill various tasks for them.
Team Cherry has been silent on both Silksong and Fearless Fox, which isn’t uncharacteristic of the studio. We’ll just have to wait and see what the elusive Aussies have planned.
