High On Life Teases New Content “Coming Soon”

Squanch Games have confirmed that new content for High On Life is coming soon. The game’s official Twitter account shared a short and mysterious teaser for the new content, which appears to be dubbed as “High On Knife.”

“New High On Life content loading…Coming soon,” reads the official tweet, which is then accompanied by a short video that displays a bloody “High On Knife” logo. No specific details, such as a release date or even what could be included in the new content was shared, but judging by the rather gruesome logo and play on words, it could be a horror-themed DLC.

The arrival of new content is sure to excite fans, but many are also curious as to know whether or not the voice of Kenny will be recast if he returns in a new update or DLC. The possible recasting comes following the departure of Justin Roiland, who resigned from his position at the company he created following an ongoing legal battle.

Roiland, who is best known as the co-creator of the animated TV show Rick and Morty, was also the voice of Kenny the gun in High On Life. Should the character make a reappearance in the recently teased content, it’s assumed that his voice will need to be recast, unless Roiland had previously recorded new lines before departing the studio earlier this year.

Despite the controversies surrounding Roiland, High On Life was a smash hit on Xbox Game Pass when it was released late last year. The comedic action game launched on the subscription service on day one, and quickly became the biggest single-player game in the history of Xbox Game Pass. It was also the biggest launch on Xbox Game Pass for the whole of 2022.

Unfortunately, despite being hugely popular on Game Pass, critics were mixed on the game. Currently, High On Life has a Metacritic score between 67 and 69 across Xbox and PC.
