Scattershot Counter

Kenny Fires Glob Shot at 9-Torg

9-Torg has a handful of different attacks she’ll use on you throughout the battle. The first type is her scattershot. Despite this attack having a horizontal spread, it is relatively easy to avoid. When she is firing at you, you can dodge most of these shots by simply continuing to move to the right while firing back at her. Occasionally, a shot or two will hit you, but you’ll be surprised by how many of them will miss simply by strafing back and forth.

You can also take cover behind the surrounding crates. When standing behind the crates, you should be able to miss all of their shots and still fire at them uninterrupted. Just be careful to not let them get too close to you, or they’ll push you into the toxic sewage outside the platform.

While she is using her scattershot, it is also the best opportunity in this battle to use your glob shot. Don’t forget to use it when you can, and then juggle them in the air with your regular shots to maximize the damage you’re doing.

Laser Beam Counter

After you take down a decent amount of 9-Torg’s health bar, they’ll start using their laser beam attack. When you see them jump into the air, they are about to use it. Luckily, this attack is pretty easy to avoid, it is the first boss after all.

When 9-Torg jumps into the air and fires the beam, you can avoid it by just jumping over it. There is a bit of a timing element to this, so just wait until it is relatively close to you before jumping. You can also fire off shots at 9-Torg while they are doing this, even while you are jumping, so don’t miss the opportunity to chip away at their health while dodging.

Sinking Platform Counter

Player Grapples over sewage with Knifey and Kenny

About halfway through the battle, 9-Torg will start sinking the platform you’re fighting on into the sewage. This means you’ll have nowhere to stand until the platform comes back. Luckily, you do have a bunch of grappling points you can swing from using your handy new weapon – Knifey.

While the sinking platform isn’t technically a direct attack, but more of an environmental hazard, you’ll want to do everything you can to avoid it. You won’t be able to attack 9-Torg during this time, so just focus on grappling from point to point until the platform returns.

Lightning Ball Counter

9-Torg fires Lightning Ball at player

The last type of attack 9-Torg will use on you is towards the end of the battle. The lightning orb is a straight shot she’ll fire at you, and it can be either dodged or deflected. They’ll fire this shot off at you in between both the scattershot and the laser beam, so you’ll still need to be accounting for those attacks as well.

Once they fire the shot off at you, you’ll notice that there is an “R3” prompt attached to it. Wait till it gets close enough to you and melee it with Knifey to send it flying back at 9-Torg. You can also dodge it, but this is a bit harder to do, and if it does it hit you, it will deal a lot of damage. They only use this attack every so often, so just be ready for it and continue to fire off regular and glob shots while you are waiting. Do this, and you’ll take down 9-Torg in no time.
