Subscribers to Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft’s monthly paid gaming service, will have full access to Metal: Hellsinger, the upcoming rhythm FPS game from developer The Outsiders, on day one of its launch.

The announcement came via the game’s official Twitter account, where fans reacted positively to the news that Hellsinger will be a day-one addition to the subscription service’s library. The tweet announcing the game’s immediate addition to Game Pass has generated more than triple the positive social media attention than any other post on the account’s page.

In Metal: Hellsinger, players traverse the Eight Hells as a human/demon hybrid entity known as The Unknown, using blade and bullet to carve a path of devastation. Setting it apart for the typical FPS genre is the game’s rhythm system, which will allow players to deal extra damage and have songs play with increased intensity by attacking on beat with the soundtrack.

The Outsiders has assembled an all-star cast of metal performers for its original soundtrack, with vocals provided by Randy Blythe of Lamb of God, Serj Tankian of System of a Down, Matt Heafy of Trivium, Mikael Stanne of Dark Tranquility, Bjorn Strid of Soilwork, Alissa White-Gluz of Archenemy, Tatiana Shmailyuk of Jinjir, Dennis Lyxzen of Refused and INVSN, and James Dorton of Black Crown Initiative. Troy Baker, whose vocal credits include Joel in The Last of Us, Booker in BioShock Infinite, and Samuel Drake in the Uncharted series, will provide narration.

Metal: Hellsinger has been generating buzz since its announcement at the IGN Summer of Gaming digital event in 2020. The game first becomes available on September 15 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Steam, although console players who preordered it will have 48-hour early access.

The game’s demo is currently available now via Steam. While previous plans had included Playstation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game, they have been canceled in favor of focusing development exclusively on the current-generation consoles.

Priced at a monthly fee of $9.99 US, Xbox Game Pass grants users unlimited access to hundreds of titles from current and previous generation Xbox consoles. As of September 7, the total available game library listed on the service’s website stood at 476. Xbox has a similar Game Pass service for PC users.
