The Bayonetta 3 controversy seems to finally come to an end as Hellena Taylor, the former voice actress behind Bayonetta, confirms that she was offered up to $15,000 for the entire Bayonetta 3 project rather than her previous claim that implied she was only offered $4000.

Earlier today, Hellena Taylor shared a new thread of tweets reacting to the reports from Bloomberg and VGC claiming that she was actually offered $4000 per session, which sums up to $20,000 for 5 sessions for the entire project. While Taylor referred to the aforementioned report as “fabrications” and “lies,” she did clarify that Platinum Games offered $10,000 for the Bayonetta 3 project in the first place, but Taylor contacted the studio head and game director Hideki Kamiya for more, asking for what she was worth.

Taylor indicates that Kamiya respected her contributions to the Bayonetta franchise and offered an additional $5,000, which makes the total and final offer for the project $15,000. Taylor says that she declined to be a part of the project. She clarifies that Platinum Games then offered a flat $4000 for voice acting some lines and not the entire project. This is actually the part that Taylor put the emphasis on in his recent Twitter videos, but she never made it quite clear in the videos that the $4000 offer was for a smaller role and not for an entire voice acting process of Bayonetta 3.

Later in her tweet thread, Taylor reveals that she was only paid £3000 for the original Bayonetta game, and “a little more” for the sequel. Calling Bayonetta a $450 million franchise, Taylor says she was indeed interested in Bayonetta 3 since 2011, and she did want to voice the character again.

Recently, the new voice actor for Bayonetta’s character in Bayonetta 3 Jennifer Hale did mention that she supports every voice actor having the right to be paid well for what they are doing, but she also pointed out the fact that Bayonetta 3 has been created by a team of hard-working developers, implying that boycotting the game is not the right way to deal with the situation.
