HBO THE LAST OF US – FILMING THE HOSPITAL AND ZOO SCENES
As shared by HBO The Last of Us fan account @HBOsTheLastofUs, the production appears to have moved to a new location in Alberta, Canada. Locals report that a zoo and an abandoned hospital have both been sectioned off to allow for filming.
Earlier this year, Alberta city Grande Prairie confirmed that HBO’s The Last of Us had previously done location scouting in the area. Naturally, given this information, many fans have assumed that The Last of Us is beginning to film here.
As one of the most touching moments in Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us, the zoo scene represents a pivotal event for Ellie and Joel. After traversing through a horrific zombie dystopia, the zoo and its giraffes provide a rare moment of peace for the protagonists. Ellie in particular is reminded of the beauty of life, revitalizing her determination to survive once more.
On the other hand, the hospital scene is one of the game’s most intense. Players navigate Joel through a broken-down hospital to save Ellie from experimentation and escape. With armed guards bearing down on him, Joel risks everything to save the girl who’s become his adopted daughter.
