Paul Bertone, who worked on numerous Halo titles for Bungie, has joined 343 Industries as its Technical Design Director. Head of creative Joseph Staten revealed the news on Twitter, stating that Bertone would help “lead the future of #HaloInfinite.”
In terms of experience, Bertone has worked on Halo 1-3, Halo 3: ODST and Halo Reach before leaving in 2012. He’s since worked at numerous studios like Undead Labs on State of Decay 2. Given his experience in design, it should be interesting to see how this helps 343 Industries.
Halo Infinite is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC. The campaign is playable on Game Pass with multiplayer being free-to-play. Despite having over 20 million players in less than two months, the title has been criticized for its lack of content and features along with the monetization. The good news is that two long-delayed features, campaign co-op and Mission Replay, are coming on July 11th. Stay tuned for more details when they go live.
I’m happy to confirm @Halo veteran Paul Bertone has joined the team as Studio Technical Design Director. Paul and I met in 1999, back in Bungie’s Chicago days, and then shipped Halo 1-3, ODST and Reach together. I’m thrilled to have Paul help lead the future of #HaloInfinite. pic.twitter.com/oYR8bhOBak
