Halo Infinite Overhauls Career Progression For Season 4: Infestation

Season 4 of Halo Infinite, entitled Infestation, is landing on June 20. Among the new features is a new, entirely free progression system called Career Ranks.

The Career Ranks system takes obvious inspiration from prior games in the series, such as Halo: Reach and the Master Chief Collection. Each rank has its own symbol and military-style designation–such as cadet, gunnery sergeant, and general. Every individual rank contains three grades. Additionally, you can progress through multiple tiers of ranks, from Bronze to Onyx. For example, while a Bronze Corporal and an Onyx Corporal both have the same designation, the Onyx-ranked player is in a much higher tier.

You rank up by playing Halo Infinite; every completed matchmade game adds progress to your rank. Additionally, you can earn ranks just by putting the time in, but if you perform better, you will rank up faster. There are no CSR barriers for any particular rank. It also will not incoporate your previous play history when the progression system launches.

Your rank is shown off in several ways, both inside and outside of games. Your profile will show your rank. You can see players’ ranks by investigating their username in a post-game Carnage Report. At the beginning of every game, when the camera pans over each Spartan on your team, their nameplate and rank will be displayed. Generally, if your nameplate is displayed, your rank will also be shown.

Season 4 will also bring new maps, the Infection mode, new customization, and Forge updates. In other Halo-related news, former Halo boss Joseph Staten has joined Netflix to work on a AAA project.
