A star from the Hallmark Channel has suffered “life-threatening” injuries after a “shattering” fall from a fifth floor balcony, but is said to be “doing well”.

Mamie Laverock, who is known for playing Rosaleen Sullivan in the series When Calls The Heart, had already been hospitalised in Winnipeg, Canada in early May due to an undisclosed “medical emergency”. After a period of treatment, she was escorted out of a secure hospital unit to a balcony on May 26, from which she fell five stories.

The story was confirmed by Laverock’s parents, Rob and Nicole Compton, who wrote (via Variety): “She sustained life-threatening injuries, has undergone multiple extensive surgeries and is currently on life support. We are all devastated, in shock, at this intensely difficult time.”

Now, in an update shared on Laverock’s GoFundMe page, which has so far raised over $36,000 (£28,000), the 19-year-old’s parents added that she is said to be “out of her big surgeries”, with doctors saying she is “doing well”.

“It’s impossible for us to be happier,” they added. “Thank you for all your support.”

It is not known what the nature of the initial medical emergency was, but the GoFundMe page states that her mother “was able to get there in time to save her life”.

After the subsequent accident, Hallmark shared a response with Variety: “We are deeply saddened to hear the news about Mamie. As a beloved member of our When Calls the Heart community, we wish her and her family peace, comfort, and many prayers during this difficult time.”

Several of Laverock’s co-stars have shared their love and support for their colleague, with Johannah Newmarch writing: “I love this family, my heart is broken. A devastating time for all who care for Mamie. Please help if you can. They need all the support they can get to make it through this.”

Laverock has appeared in nine episodes of the family drama When Calls The Heart from 2014 to 2023, and has also starred in This Means War, A Series of Unfortunate Events and The Hollow Child.
