Gotham Knights: Best Suits For Robin
The Batfamily in Gotham Knights has four of Batman’s apprentices and allies having to work together when the city is under threat. No good comic book video game is complete without costume variety, and Warner Brothers Games has given players plenty to sort through for each playable character.
Tim Drake, the third and current Robin for the game, is no exception, and there are plenty of choices for Robin to take into the field. Not all costumes are created equal, though, some are more befitting the boy genius than others.
10 New Guard
The gray and white is not an uncommon sight for Robin to wear, and the zip-up hoodie goes well alongside some of Red Hood’s designs. The only real issue with this and several other suits is that the gray and red color scheme is associated with a different Robin, Damian Wayne.
The biological son of Batman, and not present in Gotham Knights, seeing his influence in some capacity in this ensemble game is a nice touch from the developers.
9 Titan
The Titan suit is a stylized, armored interpretation of Robin’s well-known DC Comics suit, specifically Tim’s suit during his time with the Titans and Young Justice. The cape, colors, and overall silhouette is an exceptional interpretation of the iconic Robin design.
The high-end collar and flared shirt top also bring to mind Tim’s time working against, and attempted recruiting by, Ra’s Al Ghul and the League of Assassins. It doesn’t blend all of these elements together perfectly but does right by the spirit of Robin.
8 Knighthood
Sometimes, minimalism can work in the right circumstances. Tim’s Knighthood suit is all black and gray with sharp green highlights, a design idea not unfamiliar to Robins, and one that works well.
The mixture of matte and shiny materials gives the lack of colors a good sense of depth and visual variety, showing that even a lack of colors can be done in style for vigilantes.
7 Neon Noir
A different kind of suit for Tim, with a cutoff jacket and pants invocative of Jason Todd, while still rocking Tim Drake’s more colorful greens and yellows.
The eye cut-outs can look a bit awkward on their own, but in no way draw back the overall effectiveness of this suit. If it had a bit more red to balance the yellow, it could have topped this list with ease.
The signature red, green and yellow color pallette, broken up with blacks and unpainted gun-metal sliver across an entire bodysuit. The futuristic cyberpunk design suits Tim well, given his proclivity for gadgets and technologies, and the helmet goes well with the metal armor on his upper torso and limbs.
The only downside is a noticeable lack of armor or design around Tim’s torso, which is left rather barren compared to his limbs and head.
5 Knight Ops
The colors and general design is an homage to Tim’s short-lived stint under a new costume and identity in the comics, going by ‘Drake’ (A species of duck… and Tim’s legal last name. Real subtle, Robin.) for a few short months.
This brief swap in name and uniform has become a running joke at Tim’s expense, so seeing a more practical and stylish form of that costume in-game shows the dedication and passion the developers have for the DC mythos.
4 Privateer
Not a wholesale pirate-themed costume as the name implies, the Privateer suit is also based off of another Robin suit worn by Damian Wayne in the comics.
The red and gray colors go well against the black undersuits and are complimented beautifully by the bat symbol domino mask. It may be on the wrong Robin, but the style fits just as well.
3 Eternal
Another homage to the DC Comics source material, the Eternal suit takes a number of queues from Red Robin (Tim’s usual identity as a vigilante) and makes them into a single cohesive piece that fits the Gotham Knights art style beautifully.
Doubling down on reds, grays, and blacks instead of using green, the Eternal suit does Tim’s most popular non-Robin suit justice. If players are going to run Robin in Gotham Knights, this suit is all but a must-have.
2 Talon
Obviously not a Robin-inspired suit, but nonetheless a beautiful outfit. Tim’s Talon outfit inverts the usual Robin colors, emphasizing purples, blues, and gold to highlight how Talons themselves are the inverse of the people they’re created from.
Even without the usual flair of Tim Drake being present, the Talon outfit is strikingly beautiful and imposing to see in action. Nothing could prove more fear-inducing to Gotham’s underworld than a Talon striking out from the shadows.
1 Knightwatch
Nothing beats the classics when it comes to superhero outfits, and Tim Drake’s Robin outfit is no exception. The red torso, yellow cape, and green pants are the staple design aspects of Tim’s Robin suit since he first dawned the outfit in 1990.
His iconic outfit is rendered expertly in Gotham Knights, and no other outfit looks quite as good when swinging across the rooftops or sucker-punching a henchman.
