Ben Prendergast, the voice behind Tyr from God of War Ragnarok, teased a follow-up during a retrospective panel at PAX East 2023, saying that his character will be returning in some way.

The voice actor was a guest at a God of War panel at the PAX East 2023 showcase last weekend, where he discussed his role in the narrative of the game. Ben Prendergast was also providing his first-hand experience about the creation of God of War Ragnarok, explaining how Tyr helped shape the story. However, a quiet tease of a sequel was the attraction of the panel, with the voice actor suggesting that Tyr will be returning in some way. “And I’ll say this, it isn’t the last you’ve seen of Tyr,” he said while discussing the importance of the character in the narrative, as reported by Shark Games.

This surprise sneak peek at a potential follow-up has fans excited about the future of God of War. They have speculated that the next game in the series could be in development. However, Ben Prendergast may have received information from his friends at Santa Monica to give a small tease at the panel. Besides, the return of Tyr is not out of question, given his true fate has not been told yet. The character’s role in the story could be expanded in the next game, as his existence in God of War Ragnarok was just an illusion conjured by Odin.

This comment could also be referred to as a different project set in the God of War universe, such as a standalone game for Atreus or Tyr. The character could also make his introduction in the upcoming God of War TV series co-produced by Sony and Amazon Studios.

It is worth noting that God of War Ragnarok’s ending left the door open for Ben Prendergast to reprise his role as Tyr in the next game. Kratos and Freya also set off on a new journey in the Nine Realms, which means there are new stories to tell about side characters. However, you should take this small tease with a pinch of salt until the official confirmation arrives.
