In the Born From Fire Favor, Kratos is tasked with defeating a miniboss type of Draugr called The Hateful. Getting to this fight requires you to close six Draugr Holes, and the reward for completing the Favor is a solid upgrade to your Blades of Chaos.

To complete this favor, you will require a late-game weapon. Spoilers ahead if you haven’t yet acquired it.

How To Unlock Born From Fire

This Favor can only be found in an encounter with one of The Hateful minibosses. You’ll find them in the following locations: Svartalfheim, Alfheim, Vanaheim, and Midgard.

Head to any of the locations described below and engage with the boss fight. Upon defeating the first one, you’ll start the Favor and work your way towards closing all six Draugr holes.

The Watchtower – Svartalfheim

Head to Svartalfheim using the Bay of Bounty dock.

Push forward through to the blacksmith area, heading towards your left, and destroy the explosive barrel and rocks. After doing this, climb up through the platforming section until you get to the top of the elevated rock.

At the top, head towards your left, and you’ll find a melted lava floor where The Hateful boss will spawn. Defeat this boss, and you can score some good loot.

The Applecore – Svartalfheim

The location of this Draugr Hole is actually revealed earlier in the main story, so returning here will be pretty easy. Fast travel to the Mystic Gateway in The Applecore and use the chain platform Ferry to cross to the other side.

You can push forward through the rocky terrain until you reach a descending elevator. Take this ride all the way down towards the bottom of this cave and navigate your way further down below. Be sure to handle the enemies that appear and fight your way through any encounters.

You’ll eventually come across a wind vent which can be sealed by using your spear, allowing you to climb onto the next platform. Use the Draupnir Spear once more blow up a rock blocking the path. Head to the top of this area using the grapple.

Climb down to the next room and find a small crawl space where you can crouch your way through to another room. Inside this new room, you’ll find a spot to your right where you can shimmy through a wall with runic symbols. Get to the other side of this, and you’ll find a gate which can be lifted. Descend below this gate and land on the ground.

Turn your attention to the giant door behind and open it up. Here, you’ll find The Hateful boss. Take it down to earn some new loot.

Alfheim – The Barrens

Fast travel to The Barrens desert, preferably after completing the Secrets of the Sands and Song of the Sands favors. Finishing the latter favor makes your time finding this Draugr Hole much easier. The events of the favor will clear up a sandstorm that makes it difficult to navigate the area.

After clearing the storm, head to the location indicated on the map. You’ll want to follow the short flight of stairs. To the right of this area, you’ll find The Hateful boss who is accompanied by a few minions that you’ll have to take down.

Midgard – Lake Of Nine

The Hateful in Midgard is not too difficult to spot. Fast travel to the Mystic Gateway near Alfheim Tower if you want to reach it faster.

Once in this location, push forward and use your wolves to travel faster, particularly heading east on the map. You’ll eventually find an elevated spot with runic symbols. Hop to the top of this platform and begin your battle with The Hateful. Be sure to collect the loot drops from this fight, particularly the Chaos Spark needed for the final reward in this favor.

Vanaheim – The Abandoned Village

If you want quick access to this Draugr Hole, you can check it out during The Reckoning questline. This mission takes place in Chapter 06 of the game.

Go to the south of the Mystic Gateway, and you’ll find Freya’s abandoned village here. Cross the bridge by using the Draupnir Spear to elevate yourself. You’ll find The Hateful on the other end of this bridge, past the waterfall.

Vanaheim – The Plains

Head over to the dock on The Plains with your boat, and climb up the stairs. You’ll find The Hateful boss at the top of these steps.

This boss fight will provide the final few rewards that are necessary to craft an upgrade for your Blades of Chaos. Combine the six Chaos Sparks to create a Chaos Flame.
