Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Path of Redemption Update

Developer Fatshark has announced the Warhammer 40K: Darktide – Path of Redemption update came out on April 16th, adding a new system called The Personality Scourge, as well as a new enemy, and a new condition.

Fatshark says this is only the beginning, as you can expect more content coming out throughout the month to support the update as well. The reinvented penance system will come in multiple steps. There will be more than 200 new penances to unlock in several categories, and you’ll be able to use penance points towards a battle pass style progression track with more than 40 reward tiers.

When it comes to core gameplay, Darktide is getting new puzzles, challenges and collectibles throughout its levels. There is also the new Dreg Tox Bomber enemy that throws grenades filled with toxic fumes at players. Players tackling higher level difficulties will also start facing the Pox Gas as a new condition.

The Pox Gas is a new environmental hazard that changes up gameplay spaces that players are used to traversing. It blocks off shortcuts, and forces you to change your style up since its in the path of the mission’s core objectives. On a more pleasant note, Personality Scourge is a new feature following community feedback. This is essentially extended character customization, including voice, height, and additional aspects of your character except for your class. In exchange for Ordo Dockets, you can adjust your body type, name, background, and more.

Unending Dawn The Crossover Between Genshin Impact and Sekiro Is heading to PS5

The Chinese developer Parcae’s Fate Studio has confirmed that the open-world action game Unending Dawn will be released for PlayStation 5 as well as iOS and Android. They’ve received pretty good reception after they released a seven minute video showcasing an animated introduction of the world and its protagonist, and presenting the core gameplay.

Unending Dawn is described as an open-world action RPG with anime aesthetics, inspired by works such as Elden Ring, Genshin Impact, and Sekiro. Developed under the Unreal Engine 5, the development of Unending Dawn is supported by Tencent and currently does not have a release date.

The combat mechanics have a close resemblance to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, whereas the graphics and overall style bear a lot of resemblance to something like Genshin Impact.

We are unaware if it will opt for the F2P (free to play) model of Genshin Impact, although everything indicates that it will. If you enjoy soulslike games and Genshin Impact-like games, you should definitely keep an eye on it!

Release Date of Zenless Zone Zero is Leaked By Mistake

Fans of HoYoverse games like Genshin Impact or Honkai: Star Rail are eagerly awaiting their next big project, Zenless Zone Zero. It’s been highly anticipated from its character design, interface, and its intense, fluid combat.

In Zenless Zone Zero, modern civilization has been devastated by supernatural disasters known as “Cavities.” These phenomena that appear out of nowhere are filled with terrible creatures: the “ethereal beings.” In the midst of chaos, New Eridu has relied on its technology and resources to confront the Cavities and gradually rise as the last bastion of modern civilization.

Players will assume the role of proxies, adventurers who venture into them for various reasons. Players will join forces with unique characters to explore the Cavities together, defeat formidable enemies, complete all kinds of tasks, and uncover the deepest secrets of New Eridu.

Although the release date for the project has been one of HoYoverse’s best-kept secrets, a small mistake slipped through in the app store: after two years of anticipation, it was revealed that Zenless Zone Zero will officially launch on July 3rd of this year, according to their official download page on the App Store.

For now, we’ll have to wait for the company’s confirmation, but if nothing changes regarding the leak, Zenless Zone Zero will be released on PC, Ps5, iOS, and Android on July 3rd of this year.

Embracer Group Announces Its Split Into Three Different Companies

Those who closely follow the video game industry will almost immediately recognize who Embracer Group is. Five years ago, this company began to make headlines due to its strategy of constantly acquiring different studios, but since last year it has been making different headlines as being associated with waves of layoffs that have been hitting the gaming industry.

Now the company has announced a drastic change in its structure, as it will no longer be Embracer Group and will be divided into three different companies. The news was announced through a statement released by the company explaining what this separation entails.

The three companies will be Asmodee Group, Coffee Stain & Friends, and Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends. According to the statement, Asmodee Group will focus on board games and is currently working on projects based on The Lord of the Rings, Marvel, Game of Thrones, Star Wars, and more.

Coffee Stain & Friends will focus on independent and free-to-play games, with control of studios like Coffee Stain, Ghost Ship, and THQ Nordic, and properties like Deep Rock Galactic, Goat Simulator, and Satisfactory.

Finally, Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends will handle AAA projects with studios like Crystal Dynamics, Dambuster Studios, Eidos Montreal, and properties like The Lord of the Rings, Tomb Raider, Dead Island, Kingdom Come Deliverance, and more.

Unfortunately, the restructuring also led to the complete closure of studios like Volition, Campfire Cabal, and Free Radical Design, while other studios like Gearbox and Saber Interactive had to be sold. This is definitely a massive shift in the industry, and goes to show how much its changed this year

Atlus Announces Release Date For Metaphor: ReFantazio

The creators of the Persona saga, Atlus, are finally releasing their 10 year long RPG project, Metaphor: ReFantazio.

Almost a year ago, Atlus surprised everyone at an Xbox event by announcing their new IP, Metaphor Re:Fantazio, rather than the much more highly anticipated Persona 6. This new IP is a project being developed by the usual Persona studio, which has caught many people’s attention.

Since then, it has been affirmed on several occasions that Metaphor Re:Fantazio would be released at some point later this year, although Atlus has not shown much more gameplay. However, it seems that the wait is finally over, because Atlus has announced the release date of Metaphor: ReFantazio in their special event this week; October 11th 2024.

The announcement has also been accompanied by a new trailer in which we can properly see the world of ReFantazio, the kingdom of Eucronia. The story will be about the murder of the king and a tournament to decide the next monarch, with one of its main features being the management of time, which I’m sure anyone who’s played a persona is very much familiar with.

Other than that, it is worth noting that Metaphor: ReFantazio will be released on Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC on October 11, with a rumoured release version for the successor to the Nintendo Switch, although nothing official has been announced about this version yet.

7 Days To Die Announces The End Of Its Early Access After More Than 10 Years

The Fun Pimps, the development studio behind 7 Days to Die, announced that after eleven years, the game will finally be ending its early access phase and reach version 1.0 in its next update scheduled for June on PC. However, console users who purchased the Early Access version will need to buy the game again to get this new version.

“Due to significant technical differences between the previous and current console hardware, we will not update the legacy version. Owners of this version will have to purchase the new title,” stated Richard Huenink, co-founder of the company.

However, Huenink mentioned that they are considering some form of assistance: “We are working closely with Sony and Microsoft to offer a discount to owners of digital legacies when purchasing the new console edition.” At the same time, the current edition of the game will soon be unavailable in the digital stores of PlayStation and Xbox.

As for PC players, the situation is completely different: users who purchased early access will be able to acquire update 1.0 at no additional cost. However, they will not be able to use their current progress in the new edition, so they will have to start the game over.

Version 1.0 of 7 Days To Die Will Be Released In June On PC & In July For Consoles. According to comments from the studio, in the fourth quarter of 2024, Storm’s Brewing will arrive, an update that includes cross-platform play, changes in the weather system, and the development of biomes. By mid-2025, the company plans to release the A New Threat patch, with a redesign of the interface and the introduction of bandits in the game.

Assassin’s Creed Hexe Details Leaked

Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, the most supernatural and darkest instalment of Ubisoft’s saga, leaks new details about the protagonist, story, and powers. From the aesthetics, we know it will be set in the 16th century and will revolve around witch hunts during the Roman Empire. It’s expected to be released in 2026.

It was in 2023 when the simultaneous announcement of Assassin’s Creed Red and Hexe occurred, the first main instalments of the saga to be integrated into Assassin’s Creed Infinity, a hub that will gather the franchise’s upcoming games into one place. Unlike the first title, Hexe didn’t detail its setting, only hinting that witches would be involved in some way. Now, details of all kinds are finally leaking.

Promising to be the darkest game in the entire saga, as well as the most different, it’s being developed by Ubisoft Montreal and could be set in Central Europe during the Holy Roman Empire of the 16th century.

According to the Insider Gaming, Assassin’s Creed Hexe aims to be a more linear game compared to its predecessors, although it will still feature open-world exploration. Its protagonist will be female, possibly named Elsa, who possesses some supernatural abilities. While her abilities are unknown, some secretly sent images to the media showing the character being pursued by German soldiers until she uses a spell to possess a nearby cat.

Players will be able to control the possessed animal to distract the soldiers, all in dark and gloomy environments in the cobblestone streets of the city. Additionally, it seems the game will bring back the fear system from Jack The Ripper, DLC of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, which instilled fear in enemies throughout its story.

Its setting, gameplay, and story promise to offer something entirely different, although we’ll have to wait longer to know for sure officially

Lords Of The Fallen Receives New Update

Hexworks Studio and publisher CI Games have released a significant update version 1.5 called Master of Fate for Lords of the Fallen, which will end compatibility with the dark and its main novelty is the addition of additional modifiers in New Game+ mode.

This version of the game is the result of all the player feedback collected over the past six months or so. It includes the Advanced Game Modification System, which introduces a bunch of novelties.

For example, we can randomly change the arrangement of enemies and objects, or activate the permadeath mode where we only have one life. It is also possible to increase enemy density and reduce health recovered by objects until we deal damage to enemies.

The developers have highlighted that since the release of Lords of the Fallen, they have managed to significantly improve the technical state and content of the game, so they consider their work to have concluded successfully. In the future, if new content appears in Lords of the Fallen, it will be within paid DLC.

To celebrate the launch of Master of Fate, PlayStation players can currently enjoy a 50% discount on the game for a limited time, while both standard and deluxe editionsof Lords of the Fallen will be available on Steam at a 50% discount from 29th April as part of CI Games’ Steam Publisher Sale.

Blizzard Announced Blizzcon 2024 Is Cancelled

This year was supposed to be a particularly special occasion for Blizzard, as it marks 30 years since the release of World of Warcraft, the company’s most iconic game.

The news was announced through an official statement on the BlizzCon website. There, Blizzard commented that the decision was not easy, but no reason was given for why this year’s edition will not take place. The company left the door open to return to this format in future years and also briefly discussed its plans for events this year.

While there are no official reasons for the event’s cancellation, some speculate that it may be due to a lack of content to announce. World of Warcraft will receive a trilogy of expansions that have already been announced, as will Diablo IV with its expansion Vessel of Hatred. This would leave games like Overwatch 2, whose popular opinion is not good enough, at the forefront of the entire event.

The only other two cancellations for which there are concrete reasons were BlizzCon 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and BlizzCon 2022, as Blizzard was in the midst of harassment allegations. Blizzard was also recently affected by Microsoft’s massive wave of layoffs. Around 1900 employees lost their jobs in the company, and both Xbox and Activision Blizzard personnel were affected.
