Gamers react to the new ‘The Last Of Us’ teaser: “This looks incredible”

HBO has shared a new, 20-second teaser of The Last Of Us season two, and fans of the games seem stoked.

The past few years have seen a number of video games get the TV adaptation treatment, from Fallout to The Witcher and Halo. Regardless of how well these have been received by the general public, gaming fans have often felt betrayed over how much these new shows deviate from the source material.

However, the first look at season two of The Last Of Us suggests the show will follow the narrative beats of The Last Of Us Part 2 with many of the scenes pulled directly from the games.

“Looks awesome, I think it will be very interesting how the show adapts the second game,” wrote one fan on the game’s subreddit. “This looks amazing,” said another. “Fuck you all who thought this wasn’t going to be an accurate season to be the game,” added a third fan.

However, following the news from showrunner Craig Mazin that the show could run for up to four seasons, other fans are expecting the show to expand on several plot points from the game. Some fans are already speculating that Catherine O’Hara’s character will be Joel’s (Pedro Pascal) girlfriend, which was originally planned for the game before it was cut.

The Last Of Us season two is due out in 2025.

Earlier this year, Naughty Dog boss Neil Druckmann teased a potential sequel to The Last Of Us Part 2 after previously telling fans not to expect anything. “I don’t have a story, but I do have that concept that, to me, is as exciting as [what has come before but is still] its own thing, yet has this throughline for all three [games]. So it does feel like there’s probably one more chapter to this story,” he revealed at the end of the making-of documentary Grounded 2.

In other news, Elden Ring has become the biggest selling game of the summer following the release of the Shadow Of The Erdtree expansion.
