October will see the release of Black Adam, the latest big screen entry from Warner Bros. and DC Comics starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the titular Black Adam. In anticipation, Funko has unveiled the upcoming Black Adam tie-in collectibles.
A new trailer for the film is meant to drop next week, but until then these new Funko Black Adam figures can give us a glimpse of what to expect, most notably the Justice Society including Dr. Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Atom-Smasher (Noah Centineo), Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), and Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell). Interesting enough, before Hodge makes his big screen debut as Hawkman, he is set to voice Green Lantern John Stewart in the the upcoming Green Lantern: Beware My Power direct-to-video animated film.
We also get our first look at Sabbac, the big bad of the film, supposedly played by actor Marwan Kenzari. If indeed true, this isn’t Kenzari’s first rodeo as a villain having played Jafar in the live-action version of Disney’s Aladdin.
Johnson has made it no secret that this has been a major passion project for him for years and it’s a role that he was born to play. Unsurprisingly, on the publishing side DC Comics is prepping fans and audiences with prelude one-shots that tie-into the upcoming film as well as a new Black Adam series from writer Christopher Priest and artist Rafa Sandoval out this month.
