Fortnite Weapon Mod Bench locations

Weapon Mod Benches are a new addition to Fortnite as of Chapter 5 Season 1.

As the name describes, this allows you to mod your weapons — from reducing recoil to increasing bullet capacity. Though you can find modded weapons out in the wild, it’s only through the use of Mod Benches can you customize it to your liking.

This guide will tell you where to find Weapon Mod Benches (and in turn, Society bosses), how to access the vaults, and how to use Weapon Mod Benches.

How to mod weapons in Fortnite

To mod weapons in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 1, you first need to acquire a Society Medallion, then locate a Weapon Mod Bench.

You’ll find Weapon Mod Benches the same places you’ll find the five Society NPC bosses — which is convenient since this is where you’ll also find Medallions. Here’s where to find their various locations.

Like Weapon Cases, Weapon Mod Benches are located in vaults. But these vaults are run by The Society — and that means you’ll need to be carrying a Society Medallion to get inside. There are five Weapon Mod Benches in Fortnite Underground. They’re found in:

  • Lavish Lair
  • Reckless Railways
  • Grand Glacier
  • Fencing Fields
  • Snooty Steppes

The Society vaults you’re looking for are hidden much better than the Underground’s where you can find Weapon Cases. They’re usually in the basement of one of the large houses.

When you approach the vault door, you’ll be scanned. The door will only open if you’re carrying that location’s boss’ Society Medallion.

Head to the north side of Lavish Lair and look for the greenhouse (arboretum?) attached to the back of the mansion. On the north side of that, there are some stairs with a tunnel underneath. You’ll find the vault door at the end of the tunnel.

Reckless Railways (Valeria) Weapon Mod Bench location

There’s a villa in the southwest corner of Reckless Railways. Look for the atrium in the center with the fountain. Facing north, there’s a bar in front of some stairs. Go past the bar and down the stairs to find a hallway that leads to the vault.

Grand Glacier (Montague) Weapon Mod Bench location

In the main lobby of the Grand Glacier, face the front desk and the main stairs. Head toward the stairs, but take a left before you get to them — there’s a door on the wall there. Take the hallway right and through the broken wall. The vault will be on your right.

Fencing Fields (Nisha) Weapon Mod Bench location

Enter the largest house in Fencing Fields through the southwest corner. You’ll walk into a kitchen. Take a right, and then walk forward until there are bookcases on your left. Smash the bookcase to reveal a hidden stairway down to the vault.

Go through the front door of the mansion and turn right. Just a little down the hall, there will be a stairway on your right. Take it down two flights and the hallway will lead you to another stairway that will take you to the vault.

Once you’re inside the vault, head for the workbench (it’s usually surrounded by Weapon Cases) to modify your weapons. You can mod the optics, magazine, underbarrel, and barrel. Each modification costs 75 gold bars.

You can install up to four mods on any weapon. The rarity weapons determines how many mods come pre-installed. Uncommon (green) have one, rare (blue) have two, epic (purple) have three, and legendary (gold) have four.
