Since 2017, we have seen a wide variety of maps in Fortnite Battle Royale. With each season and chapter that has passed, we’ve seen POIs that have been different from the last.

While this may be true, not every single season map has been well received. There are only a few of them that have been the best of the best and earned the title of being the top 10 season maps that the game has ever seen.

10/10 Chapter 2 Season 3

In terms of being innovative and trying something new, the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3 map was exactly that. The factor that made this season stand out was primarily the fact that the majority of the map was submerged underwater. It was unique and exciting, for a while.

What puts this season map this low on the list is the fact that because the map was mainly surrounded by water, it was hard to come across enemies compared to when the landscape was on…well land. It felt like you’d wander forever before you found anyone. It was an interesting and exciting concept though.

9/10 Chapter 1 Season 7

On the topic of things being unique, in Fortnite Chapter 1 Season 7, the entirety of the map was covered in snow. What made this season exciting was that it was released during the holiday season and added a festive feeling to the game. Plus this was the season when we had Frosty Flights on the map and planes were rampant.

Unlike Chapter 2 Season 3, the snow didn’t get in the way of finding opponents, which kept things lively on the island. It would be nice to see a season map like this again. Not the same layout, but having a map covered in snow again.

8/10 Chapter 1 Season X

When Fortnite first started experimenting with having different biomes on the map, it added variety to the game. Fortnite Chapter 1 Season X took full advantage of the biomes by creating a map with three different ones. You had snow, desert, and jungle. Not only that but there was also a bit of a lava flow in the jungle area as well.

Not only that, but you had some iconic locations such as Salty Springs, Dusty Depot, Loot Lake, Retail Row, and Pleasant Park. Considering that this was the season where some of the older Fortnite skins and weapons made a return it really helped bring back a nostalgic feeling.

7/10 Chapter 3 Season 1

Learning from Chapter 2 Season 3, The Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1 Map was not only the perfect start to a whole new chapter, but it was also able to effectively incorporate and find a balance between having the right amount of water and land on the map. Everything felt sensible and added to the flow of combat.

Plus, the addition of the Daily Bugle was exciting to have especially for those out there who are Spider-Man fans. Having a snow and desert biome on the map as well also gave variety to the landscape.

6/10 Fortnite Chapter 1 Season 4

Fortnite Chapter 1 Season 4

Not that there was anything wrong with it, but the earlier seasons of Fortnite were pretty much all-around with the maps. Fortnite Chapter 1 Season 4 is no expectation. While it didn’t really change much up with the landscape other than having Lucky Landing and Dusty Divot, everything felt more detailed than before adding more depth to the game.

The landing spots on this map became iconic by this point and were one of the best maps in the earlier stages of Fortnite. If Epic Games were to have a throwback map, this would be the perfect one to have.

5/10 Chapter 2 Season 5

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5 was another map that experimented with gameplay by adding a sand area that would be in the center of the map. Here you could go underneath the sand and slide around with ease, giving you more methods to traverse the island itself.

While some may not like the feature, it was unique and innovative allowing players to get the jump on one another. It did end up causing issues and the feature was often removed. It was fun while it lasted though.

4/10 Chapter 2 Season 7

Having an Alien-themed season was pretty great, but having it also affect some parts of the island was even better. In Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7, crashed alien ships could be found all over the map and even had some effect on gameplay as you could attack aliens and pick up their weapons, using them on whoever crossed your path.

Every POI felt different from the last, and it didn’t feel like you only had one good place to land. All the landing spots had something good to offer whether that’d be guns or materials.

3/10 Chapter 2 Season 8

Now if you really want to talk about an island that was affected by the season, we need to bring the Chapter 2 Season 8 map into this discussion. Almost the entirety of the map was affected by cube monsters who would sometimes spawn out of nowhere.

It always kept you on your toes as you didn’t know what to expect. It was also fun interfering with other enemies who were fighting for their lives. It was interesting and yet again a unique take on the map which quite frankly was exciting to have.

2/10 Chapter 1 Season 1

Fortnite Chapter 1 Season 1 is where everything began. Back in 2017, we were introduced to the game, and for some, haven’t stopped playing it since. As basic as the map is, it’s iconic not only for the POIs but for its simplicity as well.

It doesn’t hold the title back at all, and it’s enjoyable. Of course, as the years went on it went through several changes, but for the time that we had with it, it was perfect just the way it was.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Map

Thanks to the Unreal 5.1 Engine, the Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 map is the best one out of the entire seasons that we’ve had so far. Everything is vibrant, gorgeous, and extremely detailed.

Not only that but we have several new POIs and the map doesn’t even resemble the older ones that we’ve seen before. Saying that it’s just “new” is an understatement. It really gives meaning to starting a whole new chapter in Fortnite. As the season goes on, we can only expect greater things to come onto the map.
