Forspoken has been delayed to January 2023

Initially scheduled for a spring 2022 release, Forspoken has been delayed a second time to January of 2023. The game’s most recent release date was set to October 11, after getting a five-month delay. At the time, developer Luminous Productions stated that “getting it right” was the reason for the delay. Forspoken now has a new PC release date of January 24, 2023.

Today’s message isn’t much different than what we heard before. While the company says “game elements are now complete,” Forspoken has been delayed to ensure final polish. Also, for “strategic” reasons. The time should allow the developer to grind down all the edges, plus it means Forspoken can avoid some serious AAA competition — in other words. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is set to release on October 28. It makes sense that publisher Square Enix would want to vault over that particular gaming goliath.

“We would like to thank you for your continued support and patience on this journey,” Luminous wrote in its Twitter message. “Your excitement for the game inspires us every day and we cannot wait to share more about Forspoken with you later this Summer!”

At least we’ll see more soon

As per the message, Forspoken may have been delayed to January, but we won’t have to wait that long to see it again. More Forspoken news, announcements, or even a trailer is scheduled to arrive this summer.

Announced back in 2020 as Project Athia, Forspoken is a third-person action game boasting some impressive visuals. The protagonist, Frey, commands impressive magic able to devastate both enemies and environments. Forspoken‘s most recent trailer showed off world traversal, combat, and different biomes, ranging from grasslands to deserts. So far, the game is looking good with a lot of intense particle effects. Hopefully the delay allows the studio to get all the game’s parts working well with good optimization.

We’ll know for sure when Forspoken launches for PC in January (maybe for real this time).
