Square Enix has confirmed that the slated DLC expansion for Forspoken, In Tanta We Trust, will release on May 26 for PlayStation 5 and PC. It’s set 25 years prior to the events of Forspoken, and will be centered around the Purge of the Rheddig, “the legendary battle that devastated Athia and eventually drove the Tantas to madness.”

As seen below, the poster shows off two characters standing side by side, suggesting that this DLC could feature them both as playable characters, though it could also simply mean that the story is centered around them. Forspoken fans are likely happy to hear that the DLC is on track to release, given the recent confirmation that its development studio, Luminous Productions, had been shut down by Square Enix.

As stated by the Luminous Productions devs, they are meant to be folded into the larger Square Enix development division on May 1, meaning this DLC will technically be released under the full Square Enix brand, but it will undoubtedly be a Luminous Productions project through and through. This will also certainly be the last project from Luminous Productions proper, after which the devs will shift to supporting other Square Enix projects.

Forspoken released on January 24 to middling reception. It received a fairly average review score from critics, with many reviewers and fans criticizing its writing, story, and open world. Despite ranking 7th in the top-selling games in the US for February 2023, as per NPD, VGC reported that Square Enix had called Forspoken’s sales “lackluster.”

Given Forspoken’s graphical fidelity, detailed special effects, and open-world style, it’s likely it had a high budget on which Square Enix was expecting to see a hefty return, and that seemingly wasn’t the case.

The In Tanta We Trust DLC is included if you purchased the Forspoken Digital Deluxe Edition. Otherwise, it seems that the way to have access to it is to purchase a “Deluxe Upgrade” which is currently available for $16.75.
