Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes recruitment guide

0

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is, of course, a Warriors (otherwise known as “Musou”) game, and that series is defined by action combat that sees you polishing off dozens, if not hundreds, of peons in a matter of seconds. This manages to stay interesting thanks to a varied cast of characters in each game that will keep you playing and trying new characters for hours on end.

Of course, to actually try those new characters, you will need to unlock them. Three Hopes has three separate paths to follow, depending on which House you choose, and each path will have different characters, but you can persuade them to switch over to your side. In this guide we’ll be outlining everything you need to know about recruiting characters in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes

How to recruit from other Houses – FEW3H

In order to recruit enemy characters in battle you’ll need to use the Persuade option. This will first require Strategy Points which you can collect from each and every battle you undertake. As you start up the next fight, your pre-battle menu will give you the option of spending Strategy Points on a Persuade option relating to an enemy character. Spend your Strategy Points on this option.

Once done, you can encounter this character in battle. Don’t kill them quickly, just battle them slowly. After a short fight, you’ll be given the option to use the Persuade command during battle. Once done your objective will swap to “defeat and recruit,” meaning they’ll join your team once the battle has concluded. Nice.

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes secret characters

There is a small selection of secret characters you can recruit which will not require the Persuade option.

Recruiting Byleth

We already have a guide on how to recruit Byleth, so make sure to read through that guide before Chapter 10. Recruiting Byleth is necessary for another character later in the story.

Recruiting Rhea, Sothis, Arval

These characters will only join your team once you’ve reached Chapter 4 in New Game+ – yep, that’s a lot of effort to go through. You’ll be able to spend 60 renown on each character to have them join you, however, Arval will only be available if you already have Byleth from your previous playthrough. Make sure not to miss them!

Recruiting the Gatekeeper

Despite Arval seeming like a difficult enough character to finally have in your team, there is one more character – the Gatekeeper. This generic NPC is finally being given its own lease on life in Three Hopes.

From what we know so far, it seems that the Gatekeeper will become available to players on New Game+ 3 after playing through a decent portion of each path, in addition to recruiting all other available characters. Players have reported unlocking the character after completing one of these tasks or the other, but if nothing pops it’s best to try completing both.
