How to recruit Byleth – Fire Emblem: Three Hopes
If you want to recruit Byleth as soon as possible, then you will have your chance during Chapter 10, and this is the same for all possible routes. You will have several timed missions to complete during the chapter, and failing any of them will mean you can not recruit Byleth.
The first timed mission will be gaining enemy intel, which requires capturing three strongholds, beating down three Warlocks, and finally finishing off Alois, the somewhat silly knight. You have just three minutes to complete this mission, which means directing your forces towards enemies they have the advantage against is essential. Your House Lord won’t be playable during Chapter 10, and will eventually try to confront Byleth themselves.
Byleth will be too powerful, forcing your Lord to retreat. You have to help them do so, and slow down Byleth and the powerful enemies that will spawn along their escape route. While here, send one of your playable units to the point furthest away from your starting stronghold.
Once your House Lord is home safe, the boss of the chapter will spawn where you should’ve already sent your playable unit. Byleth will beeline back to defend the boss, but if you already have a unit in the area, you will be able to quickly overwhelm the boss and finish the mission.
Completing all of these missions quickly and successfully will see Byleth join your squad at the end of the chapter.
