A consistent theme throughout the Fire Emblem series is the presence of sword-wielding princes whose class is listed simply as Lord. There is some variety in these, such as Eirika shaking up the male presence, and Lyn and Hector providing some weapon variety, but these are the exceptions, not the norm. While Alear is the main character and uses swords, the character in Fire Emblem: Engage most similar to the traditional Lord is Diamant. Joining your army in Chapter 8, he will quickly make himself known as a resilient frontline fighter leading the charge, as is Brodian tradition.
Thanks to his excellent bulk and unique class Diamant will prove one of the most stalwart members of your army. With the right investment and strategy, he will survive the waves of corrupted and stand by your side in front of the Fell Dragon.
Growth Rates
While Diamant doesn’t break any records with his stat spread, he possesses solid growths in his important stats, greatly helped by his starting class’s bonuses. His weaknesses are definitely his Dexterity and Resistance which will require some consideration when planning strategies. Thankfully you will have plenty of practice dodging mages by this point, as Louis introduces this weakness and the counter play early on. Diamant will make use of his high HP, Strength, Speed, and Defense to be a high-damage machine, that can take hits without worry. He also possesses a nice Build stat of 9 with a 15% growth, meaning he will have no trouble utilizing the heavier weapons, further boosting his damage.

Best Classes
Honestly, there isn’t much to talk about here. While some of the royals should consider other classes, as their signature class may struggle in some areas, Diamant and his brother have arguably the two best there are. Diamant’s personal class Successor further supports his growth rates gives him high proficiencies in both swords and axes and most importantly, gives him access to the class skill Sol.
A staple of the Fire Emblem series ever since the 4th title, Sol restores 50% of the damage dealt upon activation, providing Diamant the opportunity for in-combat healing. The only catch is that the activation chance relies on his Dexterity, which only has a growth of 30% in this class. Therefore, supporting Diamant’s dexterity is paramount, as it will provide unparalleled resilience as long as he is dealing damage. If you really don’t want to use his personal class for whatever reason, Wyvern Knight and Great Knight are options that boost his otherwise middling mobility.
Best Weapons
Thanks to his high Build and Successuer’s high proficiencies, Diamant has plenty of options when it comes to weapons. Early on, he will likely make the best use of a Steel Sword, refined or otherwise. Engravings that boost his avoid being especially nice to supplement his bulk. After promotion, Diamant will want to equip Silver versions of Axes and Swords, as well as the usual Hand Axe or Tomahawk. With his high attack, he can make great use of Brave weapons, and the Killer class is great for crit-fishing. Finally, giving Diamant a Hammer, Wyrmslayer, or Poleaxe can allow him to win otherwise difficult matchups.
Best Emblem Rings
Though many players choose to leave Marth with Alear for the entirety of the game, Diamant makes excellent use of the ring, arguably better than Alear. Marth’s Break Defenses skill allows the unit to perform an additional attack when breaking the foe, which Diamant will make great use of thanks to his access to Swords and Axes. Combined with Marth’s Divine Speed Engage Skill, Diamant can manage 4 individual attacks, each with a chance to activate Sol. Furthermore, Marth’s boost to Dexterity helps make Sol more reliable.
Outside the Hero King, Diamant can find great partners in Roy and Ike. Roy’s Hold Out skill, combined with Sol, can create insane feats of survivability, though this is extremely luck dependent. Roy also provides a boost to Resistance, shoring up one of Diamant’s weaknesses. For the ultimate defensive build, you should consider pairing Ike and Diamant. Ike’s Laguz Friend Skill reduces damage taken by 50%, which provides a more consistent means of staying alive than Roy. Alongside Great Aether, Resolve, and Wrath, Ike turns Diamant into a crit-happy tank with a decent chance of healing back heaps of health.
Best Skills
Diamant has a plethora of strong skill options to supplement Sol, especially those which help him take hits or boost dexterity. His huge health also lets him make great use of Wrath and Vantage.
