Final Fantasy 7 Remake - Rufus

Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth offers quite a lot for fans of the original and Final Fantasy 7 Remake. It has 100 hours of gameplay, with the side content double that of the main quest. It has tons of mini-games, from the Gold Saucer to The Grasslands. You can also play as Sephiroth (though terms and conditions apply).

That’s not all, as creative director Tetsuya Nomura confirmed that Rufus Shinra would receive more focus in the follow-up. Speaking to Inverse, he said, “We won’t be making immense departures from the original. With Remake, we went further in-depth into Avalanche in ways that were not done in the original.

“This will be done for Rufus as well. He will have some sort of new episodes that do not exist in the original, where we will get to know more about him and dig deeper.”

In the original and Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Rufus served as a boss fight and became the new president of Shinra. He would become a major through the original game’s story, though his role became somewhat more cooperative in Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children. Time will tell what kind of focus he’ll have in Rebirth.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth launches on February 29th, 2024, for PS5. Nomura recently confirmed that DLC for the sequel isn’t currently planned. Whether plans change remains to be seen.
