Favela And Shoothouse Could Return In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

A new leak from CODSploitzImgz (via TheMW2Ghost) suggests that fan-favorite Call of Duty maps, Favela and Shoothouse, could be returning in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The sequel to the 2019 reboot is scheduled to release on October 28th, with campaign early access starting on October 20th for those who pre-order.

In-game files were data mined by CODSploitz, revealing a ton of information regarding multiplayer maps and more. Many of the maps will not be recognisable by fans, as they will be brand new to Modern Warfare 2. However, two names that stand out in the files are Favela and Shoothouse.

Favela was part of the original Modern Warfare 2 from 2009, and quickly became one of the most iconic maps in Call of Duty history. The map was remastered back in 2013 for Call of Duty: Ghosts, but hasn’t been seen in a mainline Call of Duty game since.

As for Shoothouse, although iconic to the 2019’s Modern Warfare, it certainly doesn’t hold the same standard as Favela. The smaller map often went hand in hand with Shipment, as the two often received their very own playlist titled ‘Shoot The Ship’, which only featured the two maps.

Although these maps were discovered in the game files of Modern Warfare 2, it doesn’t necessarily mean they will be there from day one, or at all for that matter. Call of Duty often remasters classic maps and releases them during the course of content updates, which come in the form of new seasons. But, until it’s confirmed by either Activision or Infinity Ward, we recommend you take the information with a pinch of salt for the time being.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 recently held two special beta weekends, which Activision claims was the biggest beta in the history of the franchise. Although well received by fans, there was a long list of feedback from the community, with many players eager for the classic mini-map red dots to return. Infinity Ward has since said that they will not revert to the old-style map as they “do not want to punish players for firing their weapon”.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches on October 28th, 2022.
