It’s been almost five years since the release of Far Cry 5, and now Ubisoft says it is going to celebrate this anniversary by releasing an update that includes a highly requested feature for Sony and Microsoft’s current-gen consoles.

The release date for this update is set for sometime in the next three weeks, but there is no specific detail on what the update could be. Fans believe the most likely guess is that Far Cry 5 could receive an enhanced edition upgrade on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Far Cry 5 was originally released on March 26, 2018. The game received favorable reviews at the time as it did include a number of new gameplay mechanics such as a dog companion and guns for hire, where players were able to use the help of local NPCs to complete various missions.

The game also featured a new regional system where it would require you to destroy enemy outposts and take back each region by defeating its own boss, which would lead you to the final boss, a fight against the cult leader. Other than that, the story also provided players with different choices, which could change the ending at some points based on your decisions.

All these new features have made Far Cry 5 popular enough that probably returning to the game after five years with a new update would sound tempting to fans. However, it is yet to be known what Ubisoft is cooking for us behind the scenes. Previously, Ubisoft brought next-gen upgrades for some of its older titles like Assassin’s Creed: Origins, the story of which has ties with the most recent entry in the series, Valhalla.

For now, there is no official word on what the future of the Far Cry franchise looks like. Ubisoft has a number of flagship titles like Assassin’s Creed Mirage and The Crew Motorfest in development for this year, but no word on what Far Cry 7 may look like, despite recent rumors.
