Ewan McGregor’s cameo in The Traitors leaves BBC viewers in hysterics | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

BBC viewers were left in shock when an A-list celebrity appeared in one of the Comic Relief sketches. Dawn French had taken on Claudia Winkleman’s role as host of the reality game show, The Traitors. Star Wars legend Ewan McGregor appeared in his iconic role as Obi-Wan Kenobi.

At the start of the sketch, Dawn French posed as the show’s host Claudia Winkleman as she addressed the round table.

As they all sat silently in their hooded cloaks, she asked each contestant who they believed the traitors to be.

Behind each of the hoods was an A-list celebrity, including the likes of Jennifer Saunders and Alison Hammond.

However, there was one famous face in particular who left viewers stunned.

Dawn reminded the group: “Remember, when it comes to the traitor, there can only be one.”

Ewan McGregor appeared in a cameo in his Obi-Wan Kenobi role as he said: “Hello there.”

“And you are?” Dawn asked as Ewan responded: “Obi-Wan Kenobi” as the rest of the table looked confused.

“No, I said ‘there can only be one, these bloody hoods are useless”, Dawn replied.

“They are too thick and they are too dark inside.”

Making another Star Wars reference, Ewan added: “Beware of the Dark Side, young Skywalker has become twisted by the Dark Side and none of us are safe.”

Viewers flocked to Twitter to express their excitement at seeing the star in the hilarious role.

Unforgotten star Sinéad Keenan said: “I literally gasped at the sight of Ewan McGregor in the mock Traitors and woke my dozing mother. Friday night rock n’roll people. Rock. And. Roll. #ComicRelief”

Claire commented: “Ewan Mcgregor showing up as Obi-Wan Kenobi ‘hello there’ loved it was great seeing him there hehe. #RedNoseDay #comicrelief”

Other huge names in the sketch included Stephen Merchant, Ellie Simmonds, Danny Dyer and Mary Berry.

Elsewhere in the three-hour Comic Relief show, the cast of Mrs Doubtfire The Musical delivered their first UK performance of Make Me A Woman from the new stage show.

Blackadder’s Tony Robinson also revived his iconic role as Baldrick to present CBeebies Baldrick’s Bedtime Story. LINK
