12 Leif

Leif originally appeared in Genealogy of the Holy War before getting his own game called Thracia 776. He is a noble prince who sets out to free his kingdom after his parents were killed.

In Engage his most powerful ability is Quadruple Hit which uses a sword, lance, axe, and bow to combo attack a single enemy. This isn’t a bad move, but it doesn’t compare to the skills that other Emblem offer.

11 Roy

Fire Emblem Engage Roy

Roy is one of the most well-known protagonists despite his game remaining in Japan only due to his inclusion in the Super Smash Bros series. He is the son of Eliwood, one of the three protagonists from the first game that was released outside of Japan.

He is a kind boy who plays with fire. His Blazing Lion skill can set multiple tiles on fire in a single. He also allows the equipped into to survive any hit with 1HP remaining if they had over 30% of their maximum HP before the attack started.

10 Marth

Fire Emblem Engage Marth

The original Fire Emblem protagonist plays the largest role out of all the Emblems in Engage. He is unlocked at the very start of the game. His Loadstar Rush attack will hit 7 times in a row, but only at 30% power each. This means it effectively only deals a tiny bit over 2 normal attacks.

Marth has a few other skills, such as Break Defense that allows him to do additional attacks after meeting a certain requirement, but overall he is a very standard unit.

9 Byleth

Fire Emblem Engage Byleth

Byleth is an instructor at Garreg Mach in the previous installment, Fire Emblem Three Houses. Byleth also appears in Three Hopes, a crossover game with Dynasty Warriors. There they act as an antagonist rather than the protagonist. Engage’s Byleth is based on his Three Houses incarnation, but retails his ability to speak from Three Hopes.

In Engage he brings many unique weapons from his home game. In fact, he is the Emblem with the most weapons in total. He also comes equipped with skills that make it less likely to miss attacks, and can grant nearby allies an additional action with Goddess Dance.

8 Sigurd

Fire Emblem Engage Sigurd

Sigurd is the only Emblem character to ride on horseback. The unit equipped with him gains the ability to move 2 spaces after attacking, similar to how some mountain units can. The equipped unit will also be able to move five spaces farther than it could normally.

He is one of the best Emblems in the game when it comes to movement options. Sigurd can make slow-moving units feel as if they had standard movement, or make units that are already good at getting around the map even better.

7 Lyn

Fire Emblem Engage Lyn

Excluding Marth and Roy in Super Smash Bros Melee, Lyn was the very first Fire Emblem character introduced to western players. She has always been a character known for her speed that is fast enough to create after images of herself.

This is represented well in Engage, as she is capable of making copies of the unit equipped with her. Her Astra Storm skill can snipe very distant does with 5 arrows but at only 30% damage each. This is effectively like one-and-a-half normal hits. She can be very good circumstantially, but not as overpowered as other Emblems.

6 Celica

Fire Emblem Engage Celica

Celica is one of the two protagonists from Echoes Shadows of Valentia. She is a priestess that seeks out a holy dragon to help save her nation. Her moveset is designed to counter Corrupted. Seraphim is a spell that she can use that deals extra damage to Corrupted, and bed Holy Stance skill will counter damage back onto them if the unit that equips her is attacked by one.

Celica’s most useful skill is Warp Ragnarok which allows the equipped to teleport up to 10 spaces away from where they started, and then unleash a powerful spell. This can be extra useful for getting to does that are just out of reach for most other characters.

5 Lucina

Fire Emblem Engage Lucina

Lucina is the third most important character in Fire Emblem Awakening’s storyline. She is a time traveler from the future who wants to stop a different Fell Dragon from her own game. She is a descendant of Marth, and uses many similar attacks in most games that she appears in.

How Engage decided to set her apart was by making her skills reflect Awakening’s mechanics. Dual Strike, Dual Assist, and All Four One are skills that focus on multiple characters Chain-Attacking together. Bonded Shield allows Lucina to prevent a nearby ally from being hit one time on her turn.

4 Corrin

Fire Emblem Engage Corrin

Corrin has the ability to create six tiles of ice. This is helpful since it can remove negative status locations around the map, and it can act as a barrier to block off enemies. It is especially useful in end-game maps that contain an overwhelming amount of enemies.

In Corrin’s home game, Fire Emblem Fates, they were kidnaped as a baby. When they got older they had to make a tough decision between fighting alongside their old or new family in a large-scale war.

3 Eirika & Ephraim

Fire Emblem Engage Eirika and Ephraim twins

Eirika and Ephraim are a duo pair of protagonists from Sacred Stones. They are the only Emblem in the base game that contains two characters at the same time. Only one of their skill sets are effective at any given time, but the equipped can choose when to switch to the other twin.

Eirika allows the user to deal additional damage to a foe equal to 20% of their defense stat. The equipped unit will also take 3 less damage per battle. Ephraim can allow the unit to recover their own HP equal to 30% of the damage they dealt, and deal 3 extra damage. Both skill sets are very useful, and being able to switch between them makes the pair highly effective.

2 Micaiah

Fire Emblem Engage Micaiah

Micaiah is the protagonist for a large portion of Radiant Dawn. In Engage she acts as a healing Emblem. Whoever equips her gets access to using basic staves, even if their class normally can’t use one. Staves also get enhanced range. Shine is a gone she has which can brighten up dark spaces.

Her ultimate skill is called Great Sacrifice. It’ll heal all active allies back to complete health, at the cost of the user going down to 1HP. This can be done every time that the equipped unit fuses with Micaiah.

1 Ike

Fire Emblem Engage Ike

Ike is the protagonist of Path of Radiance, and part of Radiant Dawn. He is well known for being a mercenary that swings a two-handed sword with one arm. Engage states that he is one of the strongest Emblems in the story, and that holds true in combat too. All his weapons are very strong, he can tear through destroyable objects in a single hit, and gains extra defense after his paired units falls under 75% HP.

One of his most powerful skills is Laguz Friend which makes his paired units take half damage in all circumstances, at the cost of having 0 Avo. The other overpowered skill is Great Aether. The user becomes a punching bag for a turn, but regains some health after as they deal an attack to every enemy within 1-2 spaces away. This is a great crowd-control attack.
