Elden Ring’s GOTY Acceptance Speech Hijacked By Stage Crasher

As you may have heard, Elden Ring won Game of the Year at this year’s Game Awards showcase, but the studio’s moment was slightly soured when, after the director’s heartfelt acceptance speech, a random person appeared from behind them, got on the microphone, and made some barely intelligible reference to Bill Clinton.

What’s most surprising is that he didn’t rush the stage once the speech was finalizing, too quick for the security to get a hold of him. No. If you watch the video of Elden Ring’s win, you’ll realize that he was there throughout almost the entirety of the acceptance speech. He simply stood there behind the developers, and everyone seemingly assumed that he was part of the development team.

DUALSHOCKERS VIDEO OF THE DAY

None of the Elden Ring team seemed to notice, and neither did presenter Josef Fares. It’s likely someone backstage noticed the intrusion, but probably didn’t want to interrupt game director Hidetaka Miyazaki as he was accepting the award.

The young man’s exact words were as follows; “You know, real quick, I want to thank everybody and say that I think I want to nominate this award to my reformed orthodox rabbi Bill Clinton, thank you very much.” So, yea, do with that what you will.

He was never visibly aggressive and calmly walked away with security when they went to pull him off the mic, but many industry commentators expressed what a dangerous situation this was, as someone with worse intentions could have caused serious harm with such minimal security at play. It seems host Geoff Keighley understands the severity, as he confirmed via Twitter that this person, “who interrupted our Game of the Year moment,” had been arrested.
