Since his arrival in Walford in July last year Ravi Gulati (played by Aaron Thiara) has ruffled quite a few feathers.

Now the star has addressed speculation he is the character who meets an untimely end this coming Christmas.

The murder of an Albert Square resident was teased by EastEnders in an historic flash forward earlier this year.

In the scene, set in the Queen Vic on Christmas Day, Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) was wearing a wedding dress as a man’s dead body lay on the ground.

Also present were Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), Denise Branning (Diane Parish), Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) and Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth).

Suki also has reason to want him out of the picture as she currently believes that she killed business partner Ranveer.

However, it was actually Ravi who did the deed, and he has let her live with the guilt.

This is compounded by the fact that her son Kheerat (Jaz Deol) took the blame believing that he was saving his mother.

He was recently sentenced for the killing which only added to Suki’s anguish and if the truth comes out it would give her a strong motive for murder.

Despite all his foibles though, Aaron was still surprised to find the character nominated for Villain Of The Year at the British Soap Awards.

“It’s strange because I don’t see Ravi as an out-and-out villain, though he’s done villainous things,” he said.

“He has many different faces and shades to him, and there are reasons why he’s doing these things though that doesn’t justify it.

“We really wanted to strike on the note of a character that you love to hate.”

EastEnders airs on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One.
