Use of Sparkling Powers and the Shiny Charm can up your chances of finding a shiny by 400%, so make sure to complete the Pokedex and grab some Herba Mystica from Raids. Even if you don’t have these, don’t worry; plenty of Pokemon spawn on the field. However, when a Pokemon spawns, it will not notify you that it is shiny – keep your eyes peeled. Something to note is that while Shiny Pokemon will not play a jingle when they spawn, they will play a jingle when entering battle. If you’re watching TV or doing something else while shiny hunting, make sure to listen for that jingle in case you walk into a Pokemon by mistake. One way to tell is by sending out your Pokemon using the Let’s Go feature and initiating an Auto Battle. If the Pokemon is shiny, your Pokemon will refuse to attack it.

10/10 Nymble

Nymble and its evolution, the menacing Lokix, can be found all across Paldea. Nymble’s shiny turns it from black to a gleaming yellow. Nymble is quite common, and where ever Nymble doesn’t spawn, Lokix will often fill its place. Just make sure to keep these Pokemon from knocking themselves out with moves like Axe Kick, which does major damage to Lokix if it misses.

A good place to hunt for a shiny Nymble would be the Southern Province – Nymble occupies many of the sub-areas within the Southern Province and can be easily drawn out with a Bug Sparkling Power. Nymble is one of the first Pokemon you’ll encounter in the wild, so grabbing a shiny Nymble can be done before even reaching Mesagoza and starting your adventure proper.

9/10 Veluza

Veluza in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

Veluza is infamous for relentlessly chasing down anybody who dares enter a body of water in which it swims. However, this can be used to your advantage – Veluza spawn often in many bodies of water across Paldea, but primarily in Casseroya Lake. A shiny Veluza will have green fins instead of pink. Just sit in the water, and let the Veluza come to you – just remember to keep an ear out for that iconic shiny jingle when a battle starts. If you’re doing something while shiny hunting, don’t accidentally knock out a shiny Veluza without looking!

Veluza has an interesting move called Fillet Away. This move sharply boosts Veluza’s attack, special attack, and speed in exchange for halving its health. While this may put Veluza in a tight spot, if you can work around this cost Veluza can put in a lot of work! Just make sure to stock up on Potions or give Veluza the move Recover.

8/10 Pawmi

Split image of Pawmi's Pokedex entry, Pawmo, and Pawmot in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

Pawmi’s shiny is a lovely shade of pink, which stands out among its orange kin, making it easy to spot. Pawmi spawn all across Paldea, particularly in places like grasslands and rocky areas, and are typically found in groups, increasing the odds of one being shiny. Area Zero in particular is a good place to look; groups of Pawmi, led by a Pawmo, spawn often in Area Zero’s caves. Look around the cave nearby Research Station 3, as that cave has high odds of spawning Pawmi.

Pawmi spawn often in locations you’re likely to visit on your journey. As a result, you’re likely to run into more than a few of these bite-sized rodents – and more spawns mean more chances at a potential shiny. Many trainers will accidentally encounter shinies completely unintentionally while on their Pokemon journey, and Pawmi may very well be your encounter!

7/10 Noibat / Noivern

Noivern from Pokemon fighting in an arena.

Noibat tend to spawn often in mass outbreaks, which are great for shiny hunting. Make sure to check your mass outbreaks; in case they aren’t chosen for your mass outbreaks, Noivern and Noibat can be found in North Province areas one and two, as well as West Province area two. On top of that, Noibat’s shiny is very distinct from its standard color, making them very easy to spot. Noivern, Noibat’s evolution, is fast and has many powerful attacks.

One of Noivern’s most powerful attacks is Boomburst, a Normal-type special move with a whopping 140 base power. Terastallizing into a Normal type and giving Noivern a Throat Spray can turn Noivern into a devastating sonic weapon – just make sure you bring some moves to deal with Ghost types!

6/10 Toedscool

Toedscool in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

Toedscool can be found at the base of trees, and often spawn in Socarrat Trail. Toedscool’s shiny is a ghostly white, bringing to mind the death cap mushroom. This also makes it fairly easy to spot! Toedscool’s evolution, Toedscruel, has a black and pink shiny. Speaking of Toedscruel, the Pokemon will spawn as the pack leader to a group of Toedscool. Remember, more spawns means more shinies, so give them a once-over to see if any of these walking fungi are shiny.

Toedscool’s ability, Mycelium Might, may seem like a detriment – however, it makes dealing with Gholdengo much easier. Mycelium Might allows Toedscool to bypass Gholdengo’s Good as Gold and put the Coin Entity to sleep with a well-timed Spore. If you’re having trouble dealing with a friend’s Gholdengo, bring your new shiny Toedscruel!

5/10 Tauros

Paldean Tauros in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

Despite Paldean Tauros’s lackluster shiny, Tauros can be one of the easiest Pokemon to shiny hunt due to how common they are. Tauros often spawn in herds, and will approach the player on their own. Tauros can be found most often in the East Province, but can also be found in Asado Desert. This makes identifying potential shinies easier, as a close look at them is required.

Tauros’s multiple forms add some variation to this shiny; adding either a Fire- or Water-typing in addition to some color and a new mane. If you look closely, Aqua Breed Tauros’s tails are twisted into a propellor that spins when Tauros swims. Finding these other breeds of Tauros can be difficult without sandwich powers, so make sure to stock up on ingredients prior to starting your shiny hunt.

4/10 Sneasel

Pokemon Legends Arceus Johto Alpha Sneasel and Alpha Weavile in Jubilife Village

Sneasel and its evolution Weavile have a very distinct shiny. Sneasel spawn in Dalizapa Passage and across Glaseado Mountain, so watch out for this devious little Dark-type and keep an eye out for a pink and yellow Sneasel. Sneasel also spawn in the caves of Area Zero.

When HOME compatibility opens, you will be able to bring Hisuian Sneasels over to Paldea. Breeding a shiny one and evolving it into Sneasler will perfectly complement your Shiny Weavile.

3/10 Garganacl

Garganacl in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

Enjoy Himalayan salt lamps? A shiny Garganacl will evoke similar feelings of ease. Garganacl and its pre-evolutions spawn all across Paldea, from deserts to caves and everything in between. A good place to look in particular is Asado Desert, and East Province Area One; just exit Mesagoza from its east entrance, and you should find some Nacli just wandering about. A Garganacl is quite a good Pokemon to have, and a shiny will make it even better!

Garganacl’s Salt Cure allows it to passively deal with opponents it may not be able to take down easily. Salt Cure deals 1/8th of the opponent’s health per turn, 1/4 if the target is Water or Steel type. Garganacl can invest much of its kit into defensive prowess, so it can wait for its opponents to drop after hitting them with a Salt Cure.

2/10 Eevee

Pokemon-Shiny-Regular-Eevee

Eevee spawns often in mass outbreaks, which have increased shiny rates the more Pokemon you defeat. Eevee is known for its myriad evolutions, and each one has its own unique shiny. Eevee can also be found in South Providence area two and West Providence area three. There are also special Terastallized Eeveelutions wandering about Paldea; a Terastallized Sylveon can be found on the beach near Ruchbah Squad’s Base at the north-most point of Paldea.

It’s recommended you take the time to find which shiny Eeveelution you want. Unless, of course, you’re looking to get one of each – in that case, you better get to hunting those shiny Eevees!

1/10 Kingambit

Kingambit in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

The new and intimidating Kingambit looks great in a coat of royal blue, and it’s quite easy to obtain. Pawniard and its evolution Bisharp spawn in groups across Paldea, particularly near Caph Squad’s Base in the bamboo forest area. Have some patience, and a menacing blue Kingambit will be yours in no time.

Kingambit’s defining ability is Supreme Overlord, which grants a stacking 10% damage bonus for every fainted ally. Sending your shiny Kingambit out last will give it up to a 50% total bonus! Bisharp was already quite infamous for its Swords Dance Sucker Punch combo, and Kingambit is no different. Make sure to take the time to teach your Kingambit Sucker Punch, it helps when dealing with faster opponents!
