Eamonn Holmes reels people are ‘happy to see the back’ of Phillip and Holly | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Over the weekend, 61-year-old Phillip Schofield revealed he’d be leaving This Morning after 21 years with immediate effect.

His exit comes following strong speculation that he’d fallen out with his on-screen co-host and former ‘best friend’ Holly Willoughby.

Taking to Instagram to share the news, Phillip told his social media followers he’s always done his best “to be honourable and kind” during his long-running TV career.

Although when speaking about his statement on GB News, it looked as though former This Morning presenter Eamonn Holmes and journalist Dawn Neesom strongly disagreed with his words.

Dawn said: “He kept going on about how kind he’s been, a lot of people in the business have said well that’s the least thing you are actually.”

The GB News guest highlighted a scenario where Phillip once came under fire for interrupting Eamonn’s wife Ruth Langsford when she was trying to introduce Loose Women.

Not holding back, Eamonn confessed: “Look, I can give you a list of the lack of kindness and lack of awareness from both of them, about how they would socialise or know people around them.

“You just have to look at my phone, full of people who are glad to see the back of the two of them.”

Although Phillip has left the show, ITV bosses confirmed Holly will continue to present alongside other members of the This Morning family.

It comes after reports claimed the 42-year-old gave an ultimatum to bosses that either she would be the one to leave or Phil would have to go.

Despite her tribute to Phillip on Instagram, where she touched on their 13 years of hosting together, Eamonn slammed Holly for “stabbing” her long-running co-star in the back.

He fumed: “Why isn’t she coming out in public and saying, ‘I have my own professional integrity, he has done something which will reflect badly on me’?

“But she again, is being as false as he is and nobody is talking about the elephant in the room.”

As Holly thanked Phillip in her statement for his knowledge, humour and experience, Eamonn scoffed those were qualities she lacked when first starting on This Morning back in 2009.

He said: “It’s absolutely true, she used that. I would call that stabbing in the back.”

With Phillip’s departure and Holly’s early leave, viewers tuned in on Monday afternoon to watch Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary host the show.

Opening the show, the duo paid tribute to Phillip as they said a “huge thank you” to him for helping make the show a success over the past two decades.
