GB News presenter and former ITV star Eamonn Holmes underwent major surgery in late September to help ease his chronic pain. Beaming into Breakfast with Eamonn and Isabel on Wednesday morning to speak with co-star Isabel Webster, the broadcaster revealed he felt “humiliated” when he attended the funeral for Queen Elizabeth II shortly before his operation.
Eamonn paid tribute to Isabel for helping him walk to his seat at the ceremony in September.
“It took a lot out of me, I have to say,” he recalled.
“And then on the last day, my lovely, dear friend, Isabel, had to walk me a fair distance.”
Isabel revealed the presenters were up against a massive crowd they had to fight through to find their right position.

“It could be misconstrued that this was a romantic liaison, you were literally wrapped around me!” Eamonn joked.
“It was humiliating for me. You took me through that crowd forever and ever and ever.
“I stumbled a few times, my leg gave way a few times. And after that I was very humiliated, really.”
Eamonn posted a number of photos of himself at Buckingham Palace using a crutch to get around.
“I was humbled, but you didn’t make any issue of it. But, it was an issue for me,” he added to his co-star.
The broadcaster suffered a slipped disk following a freak accident last year, and has revealed sleep has been his only escape from the chronic pain ever since.
Eamonn revealed he was told by doctors there was a chance the injury could heal itself, but he was later rushed to surgery.
“I just got to the stage where I thought, ‘I want my life back’,” he told Isabel.
“You convinced me that day that I’ve got to try something. But this isn’t so much about me, this is about people who have lower-back injuries and live with chronic pain.”
The presenter confirmed he still has chronic pain, but was hopeful the surgery and his subsequent recovery at home will considerably improve his quality of life.
However, Eamonn admitted he was still angry on behalf of those who have to suffer in silence and hopes to raise awareness for the millions more living with chronic pain.
