Dredge Is Getting a Live-Action Film Adaptation

Dredge, one of the most surprising games of 2023, is coming to theaters, the terrifying fishing and exploration game will have a live-action movie.

Dredge Film Adaptation

Of all the great games released in 2023, the film industry has set its sights on one of the most surprising and unique ones we received on Nintendo Switch.

The fishing and horror game Dredge is going to have a live-action movie. Story Kitchen will be responsible for carrying out this adaptation, working closely with Black Salt Games, the developers of the original game. The company dedicated to adapting video games to film, which has the new Tomb Raider series for Netflix in the works and has worked on the Sonic movies, has not made any moves beyond the announcement yet, but has made it clear what its approach is.

“The Sixth Sense in The Water”

The adaptation of Dredge is described as “The Sixth Sense in the water” and will be a mix of atmospheric and grounded cosmic horror by H.P. Lovecraft and Ernest Hemingway, which would indicate that the live-action adaptation seeks to replicate the game’s genre mix.

Get ready, because it seems like your heart rate will increase as you enjoy this movie. For their part, Black Salt Games has openly expressed their joy. The studio confesses that they are “excited to collaborate with such an experienced studio to bring the world we have created to life and activate the imaginations of audiences worldwide.”

This title is not the only one that will have a live-action adaptation; the game Minecraft will also have its own movie, and in case you didn’t know, the first images from the set have already been seen some time ago. It seems that lately it is common to see this type of adaptations in cinema; we will see if they manage to convince the people who enjoyed the games. It is not always easy to make a product that lives up to expectations, especially when it comes to a video game.

Undoubtedly, very good news to celebrate the recent anniversary of its release, which managed to surpass one million in sales and warmed up for the release of its second DLC, The Iron Rig. Now, we just have to wait for the cast of actors and the story of the unexpected Dredge movie to start taking shape.
