Dragon’s Dogma 2 Ulrika romance guide: All likes and dislikes

Romancing NPCs in Dragon’s Dogma 2 can be pretty tricky to figure out. While some players find it easy to woo characters, others struggle with it. Here’s how to romance Ulrika in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

How to romance Ulrika in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Romancing an NPC in this fantasy RPG typically happens when you do enough quests with them to gain Affinity with them. Helping NPCs in quests earns you Affinity, which is the relationship system in the Dragon’s Dogma games. You can romance Ulrika in Dragon’s Dogma 2 by completing these quests (none of them should be time-sensitive):

  • Scaly Invaders: Fend off the Saurian invaders from the people of Harve.
  • Readvent of Calamity: Queen regent wants to control Melve, forcing Ulrika to flee to Harve.
  • Trouble on the Cape: Follow Ulrika into Stormwind Cave to help save a prisoner.
  • Home Is Where the Hearth Is: Speak to Ulrika on the dock in Harve.

Although Scaly Invaders has nothing to do with Ulrika, it secures the little town of Harve and allows them to rebuild it a few days later. Then if you revisit Melve between your quests in Vernworth you’ll have to fight a dragon.

The queen regent will then attempt to take control of Melve away from Ulrika, so Ulrika flees to try and stop the dragon during Readvent of Calamity. You then have to help the people of Melve gain back control, and they can eventually have the freedom to flee to Harve since the dragon will inevitably attack Melve again.

Head back to Harve, which will trigger Trouble on the Cape. Help her free a prisoner from Saurians in Stormwind Cave, and she’ll be pronounced Harve’s chief. After that, you can meet her at the dock, and she’ll ask you to come see her at night.

Finally, in Home Is Where the Hearth Is, you’ll watch a cutscene of your Arisen and Ulrika sitting on the beach together which ends with a kiss. After that interaction, I went on some other quests back in Vernworth but eventually saw her again at the home I bought. It seems like there’s more to this romance with Ulrika, but I’ll have to wait and see as I continue to play the game.

How to give gifts to Ulrika: Likes and dislikes

If you want to gain more Affinity with Ulrika before these quests to ensure that you have a good relationship with her, you can give her gifts. I’ve occasionally had trouble giving gifts to NPCs, even with gifts in my inventory. Nevertheless, you should typically see the option to give a gift to an NPC at the bottom right corner of your screen. Talk with an NPC, and the “Gift” option should pop up.

Ulrika, according to the History menu, likes Adorable and Beautiful items. This means that she’d love a Bunch of Flowers. You can craft this by combining two flowers. This NPC Logbook doesn’t list any dislikes, but you can presume that she’ll enjoy nothing besides Adorable and Beautiful items.

According to some of our other writers, Ulrika is not attracted to beastren. She has only romanced humans so far, so if you’re a beastren you may be out of luck. With my female human Arisen I’ve seen her furiously blush when speaking to me, but when speaking to a fellow writer’s male human Arisen she was not seen blushing. This could allude her to being more attracted to feminine human Arisen, but this is only just a theory.

Not only is knowing which gifts are good to give NPCs in Dragon’s Dogma 2 crucial for gaining affinity, but you should also know about enemy weaknesses since those aren’t listed anywhere in the game’s menus.
