Preview images have confirmed that Orange Piccolo, the new transformation for Piccolo from the latest Dragon Ball Super movie, will be added to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. The reveal comes from this month’s V Jump magazine, with more information expected to come later.
First released back in 2016, Bandai Namco has continued to support Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 with regular DLC packs. These include characters from across further Dragon Ball material, including the Dragon Ball Super continuation series and its movies. The previous DLC pack, known as the “Hero of Justice Pack 1”, drew on last year’s Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie, adding in the characters Gamma 1, Gamma 2, and the film’s version of Gohan. At the same time, a “Hero of Justice Pack 2” was confirmed to be coming later, with the characters included in it to be announced.
Now, it has been confirmed that the first new addition for that pack will be Orange Piccolo, who also hails from Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. As the first proper new transformation for Piccolo introduced in the Dragon Ball canon, this is also the first form change for the character to be added to Xenoverse 2. The preview images show off the bulked-up, recolored version of Piccolo’s design for this form, alongside demonstrating that his stretchy-arm abilities will still be available.
Piccolo was one of the focal characters for the Super Hero movie and received this long-overdue new transformation as part of that. Series creator Akira Toriyama designed the form that finally gave the character something akin to other protagonists’ Super Saiyan transformations, opting for the orange coloration to differentiate him, alongside the amusingly simple name for it.
It thus seems a safe bet that the other additions included in “Hero of Justice Pack 2” will be sourced from the Super Hero movie. That could include the upgraded version of Cell known as Cell Max, or Gohan’s ultimate Beast transformation, but players will have to wait to find out. The other question then is if the Orange transformation will be added into Xenoverse 2 as an available form change for the player’s custom avatars who selected the Namekian race. Overall, it indicates that so long as new Dragon Ball material is coming out elsewhere, Bandai Namco will keep finding ways to bring that over into Xenoverse 2.
