Do items decay in storage in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Throughout your adventure in Dragon’s Dogma 2, flowers and food in your inventory will age and eventually rot. If you’re like me and pick up every item in sight, you’re likely wondering if ingredients can be safely held in storage without decaying. It’s good news, Arisen!

Do items age or rot in storage in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Flowers and food do not decay, wilt, or age while kept in storage in Dragon’s Dogma 2. I tested this by putting meat and herbs in both my inventory and storage and skipping time for a few days. The items in my pack spoiled and aged, but the same items in my storage were kept lovely and fresh.

Throwing everything into storage while passing an inn may be tempting, but it’s important to remember that aged items are typically better than their counterparts. I recommend keeping time-sensitive items like meat in your pack for a day or so while they age or ripen.

How to stop time-sensitive items from decaying

If your current quest means you won’t pass by an inn for a few in-game days, you should combine them to create potions, dried curatives, or roborant. These do not decay while in your or your Pawns’ inventories and are far more beneficial than consuming a raw ingredient.

Long journeys require camping to replenish your Loss Gauge. Don’t forget to cook your meat during these brief respites. Rather than entering your inventory, your party will chow down before sleeping and receive stat buffs depending on the meat cooked. Plus, those live-action cooking cutscenes are totally worth it.

What should you do with rotten food in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Rotten food and wilted flowers can be sold to vendors for a single measly gold each. You can also eat rotten food to regain health, but you will become blighted, making the whole thing a bit pointless. I like to hand decayed curatives to my friends’ Pawns when dismissing them for a pleasant surprise when they next sleep in their houses.
