The newest Disney board game from Disney Lorcana maker Ravensburger brings together an all-star team of some of the studio’s most iconic heroines for a cooperative and immersive role-playing experience.

Chronicles of Light: Darkness Falls is designed for four players, who can choose to play as Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Violet from the Incredibles, Moana from Moana, or Maid Marian from Robin Hood. The players must work together to stop the shadows of some of the most notorious Disney villains from corrupting the Realm of Light. The game brings a brand new beautifully illustrated world to life, full of familiar characters, items, and creatures, and Chronicles of Light’s mission system “generates new adventures every time it’s played,” meaning each playthrough will be different. It’s also for ages 8 and up, so young kids can have their first taste of TTRPGs combined with some favorite characters.

The set-up appears similar to the super popular Disney Villainous series, where players take on the roles of iconic Disney villains attempting to enact their evil schemes. The franchise has since expanded to include Marvel and Star Wars villains, and is known for its collectible mover figurines. The crystal versions of heroines included in Chronicles of Light: Darkness Falls are in the same spirit.

“As we’ve seen time and time again with games like Disney Villainous and Disney Lorcana TCG, bringing Disney heroes and villains into one shared universe reignites powerful nostalgia and provides a platform to bring friends and families together in an immersive and highly creative experience,” said Lysa Penrose, head of new games marketing at Ravensburger North America. Penrose previously worked with Wizards of the Coast on Baldur’s Gate: Descent Into Avernus and Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage. “We know how imaginations ignite when you bring Disney storytelling to life in board games.”

The game will be available for pre-order on the Target website on July 7 for $29.99, and hit Target and hobby stores on July 21.
