Disgaea 7 Character Trailer Introduces Mechanical Magistrate Suisen

One of Suisen’s special moves allows his arms to transform into laser-edged swords, which can slash through any opponent at a supersonic speed.

In a brand new trailer, Japanese studio Nippon Ichi Software has revealed mechanical magistrate Suisen, the fifth lead character of strategy RPG Disgaea 7, which is set to be released on January 26. With fans having already been introduced via previous trailers to the game’s heroes and allies, this is the first of the Disgaea 7 character trailers thus far to introduce one of the game’s antagonists.

A biological weapon in a mechanical body, Suisen is a robot, and one of the thirteen magistrates working under the villainous Oedo Shogunate. Owing to his immense powers of prophecy and prediction, Suisen as magistrate holds the important office of Official Clairvoyant. He appears loyal to the Shogunate and takes the position he occupies quite seriously.

Though best known for his prophetic powers, Suisen also displays considerable combat abilities: in battle, he utilizes the strength built into his mechanical body to issue attacks and fend off foes. One of his special moves, as shown in the trailer, allows his arms to transform into laser-edged swords, which can then slash through any opponent at almost a supersonic speed.

Suisen’s clairvoyance also crops up on the battlefield. Through collecting substantial quantities of data, Suisen is able to predict incoming attacks and retaliate even before these attacks are dealt. His clairvoyant powers and combat skills aside, however, deep down Suisen lacks maturity, and while he often speaks in a monotonous tone appropriate of a robot, when the sparks of his emotions fly, his voice quickly turns impudent and childish.

In Disgaea 7, Suisen is posed as an obstacle to Fuji and the gang, halting them on their quest to gather all Seven Weapons of Origin and remove the Shogunate from power. Suisen will be voiced by Japanese actress Maki Kawase, whose previous roles include Blue Reflection: Second Light’s Rena Miyauchi and KMS Z2 of Azur Lane. Kawase will also be providing voicework to the character of Machina in the upcoming visual novel RPG Loop8: Summer Of Gods.

Disgaea 7 will launch in Japan on January 26 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. At the time of print, there are no known plans to release the game internationally. The next character trailer in the series, scheduled for January 20, will introduce fans to the merciless and pesky character of Ao.
