Diablo IV arrives to Game Pass subscribers, Diablo III reruns Forbidden Archives April 12

This week brought the marquee event that supporters of Microsoft’s multi-billion dollar buyout of Activision-Blizzard were likely eager for: Diablo IV is now available for Game Pass subscribers, whether they’re playing on PC or Xbox.

The post heralding the arrival appears to be written for those who have never installed a Game Pass title before or don’t know what an OARPG is, as it provides instructions on how to install the game on PC, shares a primer on the game’s world, and summarizes the sub-genre overall and D4’s basic mechanics in specific. About the only thing that might be different from the whole process is the linking or creation of a Battle.net account to a Microsoft account, but otherwise this is really par for the course stuff.

Meanwhile, Diablo III has confirmed a Friday, April 12th launch date for Season 31, as well as confirmed that the Forbidden Archives season will be the returning theme when it does go live. This grants three additional legendary power slots that can be used in Kanai’s Cube for the duration of the season, while cosmetic rewards from Seasons 7 and 17 will be making a comeback as well.

Activision-Blizzard is considered a controversial gaming company owing to a long string of scandals, including the Blitzchung boycott, mass layoffs, labor disputes, pay disparities, sexual harassment and discrimination lawsuits, federal settlements, executive misconduct, pipeline issues, messy financials, declining titles, failed partnerships, widespread illegal unionbusting, disastrous management, brain drain, bungled OW2 PvE, WoW Classic RMT, and the still-astonishing revelation that the CEO threatened to have his assistant murdered. In 2023, the company was finally acquired by Microsoft.
