Diablo Immortal: Best starter classes

0

Picking a class in Diablo Immortal is a feat unto itself. Not only are there six unique classes, each with its own strengths and weaknesses, but there is how Diablo Immortal is monetized. Microtransactions such as the battle pass need to be purchased per character, so before you start spending all of your hard-earned cash, come take a look at the classes and what they have to offer.

This guide will help you pick the best Diablo Immortal starter class so you can get ahead early.

Barbarian

The Barbarian is all about closing the gap between you and your targets while dealing as much damage as possible. This gigantic brute warrior runs head-first into battle, swinging its weapons like a blood-thirsty behemoth fueled by rage and a never-ending supply of pre-workout.

Chained Spear pulls enemies towards you in a cone, allowing you to slice and dice away till there is nothing left. Once close, Hammer of the Ancients delivers a devastating blow, smashing your enemies to bits. There is also my personal favorite, Whirlwind, which turns you into a spinning tornado of death and destruction. Attacks like Sprint and Furious Charge offer high mobility while dealing damage, allowing you to chain attacks together seamlessly. If you like high-damage output and playing moderately risky when it comes to managing your health, the Barbarian is your type of class!

Crusader

Equipped with a slew of heavy armor, the Crusader is a walking holy fortress that smites anything that crosses its path. Acting as the Diablo version of the traditional Paladin, the Crusader mixes melee combat with a taste of ranged using their Spinning Shield attack that pulls enemies in closer to you. Falling Sword summons a heavenly weapon that impales the ground, dealing area of effect damage to all those around it. Give yourself some breathing room with Shield Glare, an attack that temporarily blinds enemies so you can get a few more whacks in with the cleaving Sweep Attack.

While efficiently killing your demonic foes is important, the Crusader really focuses on mitigating damage and taking the heat off your allies. Slow and methodical, the Crusader gives you a good amount of time to think between various cooldowns so you can survey the battlefield. This class is ideal for those who value survivability above all else like looking like a walking, talking, demon-slaying tank.

Demon Hunter

Demon Hunter is an incredibly nimble class designed to dodge and dip around attacks while unleashing a hailstorm of arrows directly into the enemy’s face. Embracing mobile hit-and-run tactics, the Demon Hunter allows you to use your main attack while moving.

The Demon Hunter is all about keeping enemies at bay with attacks like Knockback Shot, which releases a large arrow that pushes enemies back, keeping that open gap between you and them. Rain of Vengeance deals massive amounts of damage by releasing a torrent of arrows from above, making this a great ability to use within various chokepoints. You also get abilities like Daring Swing which gets you out of sticky situations while delivering some damage. If you are someone who doesn’t like standing still for longer than two seconds, then look no further!

Monk

As the quickest melee fighter in Immortal, the Monk focuses on dexterity to deliver devastating blows in quick succession. It is fast-hitting, quick, and can soak up a moderate amount of damage before getting knocked out of the fight. Monks have a ton of utility and damage mitigation abilities, unlocking shields and recovery options at later levels.

Cyclone Strike is an ability that, once charged up, can pull enemies towards you. Or outright fling yourself towards them like a teenager at a Harry Styles concert with Flying Kick, knocking opponents backward while dealing extra damage if you manage to rebound off a wall. Seven-Sided Strike hits enemies in quick succession, punching either multiple foes for an even spread of damage or hit for additional bonus damage when used on a single target. If you are a fan of martial arts and love being in the thick of battle with no regard for personal safety, the Monk seems like the perfect class for you.

Necromancer

A class for those who occasionally like to crack open a cold one, sit back, and watch others do the heavy lifting. A mix of ranged and melee combat, the Necromancer is an interesting hybrid class. Most of the time, you will be using Command Skeletons, summoning the undead as your personal bodyguards while you pelt your enemies safely from a distance.

Abilities like Corpse Explosion uses the remains of fallen enemies as a weapon. Grim Scythe is a cleaving attack that deals damage to those who come too close to you. Summon an eruption of spikes from the ground with the chargeable attack, Bone Spikes. Necromancers have decent health and ample survivability to withstand ambushes.

Wizard

As the quintessential glass cannon of Diablo Immortal, the Wizard can dish out a ton of elemental and arcane magic attacks while looking smug from the back line. The Wizard can hit almost any enemy on the battlefield but cannot manage much when enemies get up close and personal.

Arcane Wind is a charge-up attack that sends your foes backward and deals bonus damage when used after dealing fire-based attacks like Scorch, which is a giant fireball attack. With Lightning Nova, you can hit enemies all around you in a 360-degree arc. With Frost Nova, you unleash a beam of magical energy that slows enemies while dealing massive damage.

Now that you have a better idea of what each class provides, keep in mind that the more you stick with each one, the more benefits and abilities you get later into Diablo Immortal’s late-game. Keep your eyes open on FTW for more helpful tips. Now go out there, grab your weapons, and save Sanctuary while you still can!
