Demon Slayer Anime To End With A Film Trilogy

Demon Slayer, the hit anime based off the best-selling manga Kimetsu no Yaiba, is finally coming to a close. However, rather than close the series’ out with a final season, Crunchyroll has announced that the show’s final arc, Infinity Castle, will be told over a trilogy of films.

The films were announced shortly after the final episode of the Hashira Training arc aired on June 30. Currently, there’s no release date for the films, but it has been confirmed that the movies will be distributed by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment worldwide, except for specific Asian territories such as Japan.

Following the announcement, Crunchyroll released an ominous teaser trailer for the upcoming film. Although not much is shown, the words “With a united will that lasts forever, enter the battle at Infinity Castle” do appear on screen alongside shots of what we can assume to be the castle. It’s then followed by a quick montage of various characters from the show, and before it ends, we’re given a glimpse of Tanjiro falling.

The All-Out War Begins.

It’s also worth mentioning that this isn’t the first time Demon Slayer has released a movie. In fact, three movies–each covering different arcs within the show–have already seen theatrical releases.

In a press release given by Crunchyroll, company president Rahul Purini said, “Demon Slayer has been a phenomenal franchise, and we at Crunchyroll are delighted to have been a part of it from the beginning.” Purini added that, “Crunchyroll is thrilled to be able to bring this trilogy of films to fans, on the big screen, and it promises to be one of the truly epic and consequential pop cultural events of our time when it hits theaters.”

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is based on the manga of the same name created by Koyoharu Gotoge. The show follows a young boy named Tanjiro Kamado, whose family was murdered by demons. In hopes of avenging them and turning his sister Nezuko back to human, he joins the Demon Slayer Corps, an organization devoted to hunting and killing various demons.
